I like it a lot, the overall feel is very "winter" cold and nicely done.
The rope from the Ket to the sled is a bit 'stiff', I would give it a bit of sag.

The animation of the figures and the layout are great. Good scene. From a technical standpoint I think you could use some more well defined track marks behind the kettenkraftrad. Other than that, looks good.
Thanks for sharing,

It is very lovely.
I like how the snow looks. Tell us please about the vehicles. What are they and where are they from?

Looks pretty cold already but what might really pot it over the top cold, would be taking a tiny bit of cotton from a cotton ball, not much, just a tiny bit, fraying it, hitting it with aerosol hairpray and attaching it to the exhaust pipe of the schlepper. You migh even try doing this at the mouthes of a couple figures to show an steamy exhillation.

Looks dark cold and miserable.... just perfect for a winter dio. The sled really says a lot. Most dios have troops loading directly onto tanks or into trucks but the sled is certainly something different

Looks really good, I like it alot. Great snow effects.
Whose Raupenschlepper Ost is that? Italeri? If so, did it go together well?

That is one of the best snow dioramas i've seen. I like the affect of the snow getting muddy where they walked around and how the tracks dug in the cold hard dirt. I have to agree with Shermie "Cold and Miserable". Maybe that's what you should name it if you all ready have'nt. Great job Doc!

Docdios -
Very well done! As the others have stressed, it really captures the "winter cold" theme. I do like the cold breath and exhaust effect idea to add even more. The "sled" idea is very imaginative touch and the rabbit for dinner both add a special quality to the scene. I was wondering about no weapons or small arms though? Assuming that the ammo is going to where the action is, I'd think that the crew would need some protection. Very minor point to an outstanding piece. Thanks and lets see more!

Ok Guys
some answers to the question but first a thank you for the comments, the diorama has taken me 2 weeks to complete so i have been starting to go a little snow crazy looking at it!!.
The snow is simply Bicarb soda used in cake baking, then using a fine sive layered over the diorama. The RSO was then placed in postion and the tracks in the snow covered with Humbrol clear, this causes the bicarb to melt and gives a slush look, coats of gloss varnish was then added once dry with a little more bicarb.
The ket and the boat (you should see better once i have the better photos done) are then added, the tracks of the ket are there just not really visiable with these picts.
MIG pigments where then added around the walking area and around the racks of the RSO and mixed into the bicarb with a brush to give that dirty look.
The RSO is the stock Italeri kit, which is awful, the track where replaced with model Kastern items as the the stock ones are rubbish. (theres somthing wrong when the tracks cost more than the kit??). It can be built into a nice little model but it is frustrating.

The diorama looks great Keith. The ropa leading from the sled to the ket seems a little fake. Besides that, everything looks very good! How did oyu make the snow?

Well done Keith:
I like the originality of the subject matter as well as the "action"
feel of the whole scene. What method do you use to pose your
figures , like the one in the RSO (looks great).
Careful about making making cloud for exhaust & breath, since you have mud, indicating melting temps. no exhaust fumes
would appear.
cheers
