Rob...whew! 500 Posts! We are all thankful for all the info and help.
To put this in perspecitive I checked the top posters on the AFV News site... Their top poster of all time has 282 posts.
Also: The Armor board silently crept over 1000 posts yesterday (I think). Looks good.

Okay - stupid question time!
Looking at Rob's "Bird" I began to wonder if the head is facing the right direction. I thought the Eagle looks to the right (viewer's left) when viewed head on...

Whoa - wait - found the answer to my question with a search on Google. Appears what I thought was the correct insignia was actually called a "War Eagle". In 1926, the insignia was made in pairs, with the head of the eagle facing the front of the body, when worn on the shoulder. The eagle's head was reversed on one insignia, with the head facing the laurel branch - this was worn on the right shoulder. The eagle with its head facing the arrows was worn on the left shoulder and was called the "War Eagle".
In 1951 the insignia was changed so that the eagle's head would face the laurel branch, with arrows to the rear, on both insignia - i.e. the laurel branch and arrows faced in different directions for the left and right shoulder insignia. The "War Eagle" isn't authorized to wear on the uniform anymore.
This is interesting stuff...

I'm just lucky that I can walk out my office door and into a motor pool that has onesie-twosies of just about all pieces of equipment that the Army has. Didn't even have this access as a BMO in an armor battalion, only had armor specific equipment and supporting stuff. Here I have everything from a 105mm towed howitzer to an M1A1. I might have to post what I have here for you guys some day.

Rob,
Well it looks as though Ken or I won't be catching up to you in rank anytime soon. I got the "bright idea" of correcting the rank list which was missing some of the upper ranks (like lt.col, maj.gen, lt.gen) So we will have to now go through Lt. Colonel first. Sorry Ken (pretend it was yet another bad decision by Washington planners).
Of course you are a further off from being a 4-star. And I added the supreme rank of "Site Commander". First person to reach 5000 posts gets it! hehe

Rob...Ack...I thought it would hold your old rank, but it appears it updated the field in the database to the new levels.
Do you want me to try to restore it? I will spare you the techie talk but suffice to say with a little work I could get it done.

Congrats Rob. I must say that not only has he posted so many times, but has given very useful information. It would be easy to post a bunch of dumb coments or useless info but you got there the hard way, you earned it. I feal sorta guilty about being a Lieutenant. I have got here by mostly asking questions.

Gunnie - 250? There's no prize for that! Major was and is still 300.

OK Jim, lets not get started on the Star Wars. I too am a Star Wars nut. Did you see the blooper in episode III that they kept in the movie, when the storm trooper bumped his head on the sliding door.

AsI said earlier in another thread....congratulations on your promotion to ' full bird'.
Your 500 posts were all worthy young 'jedi'. Was wondering how long it will take you to reach the rank of ' Commander and Chief '...?
Or, maybe we should just name a tank after you.
Hmmmmm....let's see, the M99 Gronovius. Has a certain ring to it, don't you think?
lol.
Tread.
P.S. We are all better for your posts, and lucky to have you here
