On this kit, the only thing distinguishing it from a family Land Rover, to a Military one, is these clear looking grates that fit over the head lights, and tail lights, and also the bumper.
But my question is, those grates are made on the clear plastic sprue, and they look like a box that will cover the whole head light section, and they are solid plastic, with raised ridges where the grates are, like making little squares going all the way across, and down like a chess board.
Like I said the ridges are raised, and the cover itself sticks out about 1/16" to cover the head light. Has anybody have any pictures of such a critter that covers the head lights on a land rover that are square. I was wanting to see if they are just grate covers, or also a tinted glass also.
Thank you in advance Kerry

Kerry,
On real Land Rovers this is just a metal bar cage / wire mesh guard. The boxy clear part was just Italeri's unusual idea to replicate this part in plastic. You are supposed to paint only those raised ridges and leave the rest clear. Then you are supposed to pretend that clear part is invisible and you only see painted areas, looking like metal cage guard protecting headlight. I doubt it can look convincing, but that was the idea...

Not to mention that the rear towing pintle will be different from a civi version as well and some ser3's might also have had side doors fitted to take a jerry can of fuel/water

I thank you Pawel, some how in the back of my mind I kind of thought this was what it was, but then with the military it could of been tinted, but now I know for sure.
This is also the first model that the spot mirrors came on the clear sprue to.
Thank You to Davy, with just the light covers, and front bumper is all they give for military, I guess it is better to stick with civilian.
