I did some research and found out that this kit is more properly a civilian Landrover rather than a military one.
I won one on eBay recently (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5933559690, and I wanted to do it as a civilian vehicle. What would some of the proper civilian stock colors for this model/year Landrover be? I'd like to make it as stock as possible. Something in a color that you may find while tooling around the public roads of the UK.
Any thing need to be done to this to remove all the military fittings?

English racing green or a charcoal gray might be a good choice or two.

Hi Robin,
A former colleague of mine in Scotland has one in a light blue color. About like the one in this photo hotlinked from East Coast Rovers:
His is a full length hardtop, same as the kit.
HTH,
Dave S.

Rob,
Alot of the Landrovers seen on UK roads are Ex-forces the only thing you might fond that has changed is the towing pintle has been swapped over to a design like this,
is also possable to add air filter stacks sct to them as used by off-roader types here in the UK most might still be green some might have winchs fitted to the front or you could scratch a recovery type as used in the 70's bit like a sherman dont say it never happened as some one will prove you otherwise

I guess we got the same kit, just mine is in a lot older box, mine is Italeri #321 Land Rover 109" wheelbase, mine shows a picture of a family one colored Beige, yours has a lot more interesting picture.
I was just trying to figure out in the other post what to do with them military head light covers that come on the clear sprue.
They don't say anything on the directions outside of Military version, and thats it.

you will have to do some dashboard surgery if you want it be a UK vehicle as the steering wheel is on the wrong side.

I was watching on the PBS channel one day, about that auto week, or what ever it's called, and they were saying the reason you guys kept the steering wheel on the right, was so you can swing your sword with your right hand, and steer with your left, cause the majority of people are right handed.you will have to do some dashboard surgery if you want it be a UK vehicle as the steering wheel is on the wrong side.
Then when it came to the US we were a lot more friendlier, and didn't see the need to carry a sword while we were driving.
Now this is what they said, how true it is, I have no idea, I wasn't around when they decided these things.

The Testors yellow box was a 1980s thing. After that, Testors just imported the kits in Italeri boxes. How do you find anything about when it was boxed?

No, it wasn't to carry guns, we just had a lot more left handed people then.
