Beautiful groundwork! The combination of herbs make very good contrasting colors that is very natural.
A couple of things though:
1) I'm not sure if you did this. After your groundwork has dried, treat them with a wash the color of dark, polished wallnut. Once dried, drybrush it with a light brown color. Once dry, drybrush very lightly with yellow. You can also drybrush a little green, brown and red here and there. The result would be a nice transition of ground texture. Then you can add those herbs.
2) Drybrush a little bit of light gray and light brown to your rocks.
3) On the second picture, the twigs look like they are following the contour of the road. Personally, it is quite unnatural.Do not let the twigs follow the line of the road.
Overall, it's very good work. Makes me think of making an autumn diorama.

hy,
thanks for ur opion, so the rocks and the stigsg are fresh and, so i just wanted to let them dry and look if it holds. i wanted to make some collour at the rocks, the "street" will get more gray.
yes, some sticks are in line with the road, but this "will" so i hope simulat some work at the forrest, i will put more bushes and twigs compare with grass on it. but most of the groundcolour is ready. because so many trees will glue on them, there will not be much to see thruw.
but thanks for ur opion, i will go on with ur tips, to make it better.
thanks, greetings

Marc,
Nice start. One item that caught my eye has to do with the boulders (rocks). Some of the boulders appear to be sitting on the ground, however with the size and weight they would have settled in the ground. Since you have stated that you intend to add additional tress and grass this may reduce the appearence of the bottom of the boulders.
Keep posting pictures

thanks all.
yes, the rocks are "on" ground, not in, i have to change this later. this is / was just a test if white glue will keeps rocks and everything on the ground. so, i testet it and it holds. i will add some sand to it, thanks for this, didn´t saw it till now...
this tank is a konami tank, the scale of my dio is 1/87 so the rc tank with if shootingmode is something spezial under the little rcs. i likt to cruise thruw my dio with cam, but thats not the theme.
so today i will follow ur tips, than i can show more pics. the "street" is now brown, all wet, i have to wait before going on.
so i keep u up-to-date. thanks.

Es ist sehr gut (year and a half of high school German and a semester of college German and that is about the only thing I know). Very good. Initially, with the little tank, I thought the groundwork was very big, but its not as big as I thought. The groundwork is very realistic. The last couple of pictures (at the bottom of the page) are very convincing. As I'm not much of a dio person, I would say that the above recommendations are your best bet, but it is very convincing at it is.

thanks all, pls. feel free to post ur opinion, every feedback is welcome.
thanks.

Marc, I want to tell you that your groundwork looks very, very, good, sir. And in response to your question about " Best Bet ", when someone says that is your best bet, they mean that it's probably the best solution to your problem, or the best thing that you can do...Keep modeling, looks great!

hy everyone,
so this thread is a little older but i want to show u what i have made with my woodland. so lycos deletes all my pics, sorry, but here are new pics of it.
once again:
i know that u all do a great job and u love ur dios like i do, but this dio is not only for a standmodell, its for my rc (if) tanks. i think its importend to know this, because its hard to make a playable dio. i know not just a little crazy, full crazy i like modellworks and the tanks, so i try to complete ?!? compare? this 2 things good as posibly.
many things are missing, grass is the biggest problem. i orderd it, a long time ago ...
so enough, here the pics, but in progress!
thanks for watching feel free to post ur opion, good or bad everything helps me. or, importand! the trees not glued! just to show put on ground! first gras, then i glue them.
bye,
marc

The additional trees are great. This is a nice looking diorama.
If possible I would move some of the pine branches around so they are quite as uniformly in line. The last image bottom right tree the branches look to be in line a bit to much.

hy,
thanks for ur post. i just put the trees to show how it looks later. they just has a "show" effekt. yes, ur right, later i have to controll that i didn´t make a line. i use to work like nature. nothing else is like anywhere else again. sorry, found no other word for, unnormal? i know what u mean and i think u know what word i am searching for. the german word is " unregelmässig" wildniss ?!?
also there will be some other kind of trees. "hochstammtannen" like this kind of trees but with no bushes and twigs at the earth/stamm.
i will keep u up to date.
greetings from germany,
marc

Marc I'm glad youv'e put up your photos. Good groundwork considering you are working with a small scale which is often tougher as you've to get everything to scale. The trees fit very well. Why did you say in your PM that you didn't quite like them?
You may want to go easy on the grass later on as they is generally less grass under the trees compared to exposed, open areas. Don't know whether it is possible to make tank tracks behind the tanks at that scale? Just a thought.
Great work and look forward to seeing more.

hy´,
the scale of the tanks is 1:87. they are 5,5 cm long, not much my probblem is, i would like to build up an realistic "word" or "scene" like u do in scale in 1:35. so i try to put every detail in/on my woodland as posibly is able to do. i know that this isn´t easy and crazy in this scale, but thats the fun part more details = better wiork
so u can see at the pics that the trees are abloom, its looks good but not realistic enough, for me. i think the problem with brought trees is, the have not the flair of selfmade trees. not enough nature like, more like a factory. know what i mean?
there will be more open places under the trees later, with gras. so my tactic is, ich first put everything on, then i will see what happend later. wildness is noch so easy to build as i thought. some bushes are to high, some to small. if the gras is here, i will cut of many things away. but it also is a great underwood.
the gras also will glue at the street, in the middle. so i hope that the many gras will give my objekt more and more realistik.
i got a little problem with fighting scenes in a german forest, does anyone knows, where i can get pics of fighting germans in woods? i can´t find anything about... i need some pics for flaks, haubitzer... so i didn´t know how to make atittudes.
thanks all.

Marc,
Marc your'e more than welcome. BTW the wife was looking over my shoulder while I was viewing your photo and she thinks the trees are great. She's a tough critic and I agree with her. They may look slightly similar but because there's a lot and they're packed they do look good and you should leave them all in.

I love it, the idea of a 'playground' for 1:87 scale r/c tank's, brilliant. I'm temped.... Where did you get the r/c tank's?
Your groundwork is looking better and better, and as for the tree being to uniform, If you look at any pine forrest from a short distance the tree's do all look similair. Thats what pine forrest's are like.
Cheers
Henk

uk? hmmm, i still know no shop in uk for the tanks... ok, i brought they here in germany, there are only 3 shops i know who sold them.
http://www.tableracer.com/shop/csc_articles.php?saSearch[category]=Konami%20Combat%20DigiQ
sorry, its german. but! try this link: english handbook! 3mb, pdf
http://www.tableracer.de/menue/support/digiq/digiq_handbuch_en.pdf
the full describe is:
"konami digi q tank" coast: +/- 60 euros and up to 100 euro for full set. u can brought tigers, panther, t74, t90, t34/85 and some more. they drive by infrarot and can shoot, move turm, hit reactions, sound about pc and many more. check google! sorry that i can´t help u with a shop in uk. its a "toy" from japan. fb is japan, but not to hard to learn, u play one time u play ever with it 4 tanks can play at one time. so team mode is cool! 2 vs 2 or 3 vs 1.. how u like.
so if ur interressted for such a small tank, keep only looking for konami! there are versus tanks VS. forgett them! too bad.
@ admins: sorry for this. now back to buisness
i got now 70 trees on ground and yes, its cool. more and more trees, its better more and more my skepsis is away... so all my hope is the gras, its the last i could add to make it perfekt, but i will see. wasn´t at the delivery.
what did u think? could it make gras only down the trees and at the side of the road or maybe some or more at the street?
thanks, greetings
