Not sure whether to post this in the warships forum or this one!
This model will end up in a dio one day - beaten up old LCM used as a Rhine ferry. MGs removed, extra armour on the wheelhouse, tatty paint etc.

Three more pics in my gallery.

Now that is looking REALLY interesting Dave - I have the Trump one sitting on the shelf, waiting for some kind of divine intervention. I presume this is the Trumpeter one?

The 'Rhine Ferry' idea has a lot of possibilities - a marshalling area on land perhaps with an LCM getting repainted with the LCM sitting on railway sleepers?

Thanks for posting these Dave -excellent!...Jim

Jim, this is the Italeri kit. You've guessed what I have planned, but I need the space and money to make it. A temporary loading stage with trucks, load of stores etc.The LCM will be in the water with a derick or mobile crane swinging a net of gear aboard.
I'm in the process of being forced to redecorate the lounge and have planned to get about a third more shelf space from it, then I can get this finished.

Hey Dave,
Great work!
Did you see the pic of the LCM(3) on a Dragon Wagon?
I've seen some on the web and also in MMiR's Dragon Wagon book. Also, somewhere, I saw a pic of 2 LCM(3)'s on rairoad cars. They were on thie sides and the driver's hut was sitting on a car between them.
I think I'll put mine on a Dragon Wagon......someday. :-) I've got both kits, just need to build them.
Again, I really like your LCM(3).

Looks like a "clean" build. Actually too dirty for me, don't think you would actually see one this bad in service either. The Navy is pretty particular about keeping their boats in "ship shape" condition, ie., clean, rust free and in working order. With the amount of rust on this one, lots of items such as hinges and other moving parts would not be able to work. Needs to be cleaned up and repainted. Remember the Navy adage, "If it doesn't move, paint it."

Normally, I would agree, but I have a particular scene in mind for this.
Some of these boats were 'allegedly' left in use after the war as ferries and this model portrays one of these. I saw that everyone else made theirs almost spotless and decided that although I have only hearsay evidence I would apply some licence and go for this look.

To go along with Dave, by this point in the war, the vessels used in the Rhine Crossing had seen some serious use. Virtually any finish from 'pristine' to 'rustbucket' would have been seen - the same with the LCMs used in the Pacific...Jim

very nicely done Dave. Believe it or now I have been thinking of getting one of these kits as well one day just for a change as I have some nice photos of Aussie trucks being off loaded from these in the pacific.

How ever too much to do at the moment such as trying to finish the step by step Chev build for one!

Once again this is a good build and shows your painting/finishing skills off good
