What are the correct colors to paint the Afrika Korps vehicles? Do you first paint them german gray and then some sandy color?
Please advise
Thanks

yes i think you're correct, as most field camouflage was applied....in the field as needed, gray was the original basecoat color of german vehicles

IIRC, the earliest AFVs to arrive were in the EU scheme of "panzer gray". They were quickly cammo'd in local mud and "desert sand" paint as fast as they could get supplies.
Later supplies arrived in the desert brown/tan paint.

So, it depends on "when" your DAK vehicle would be in theater as to whether you "underpaint" in gray, or just use straight DAK yellow.
