I am assuming that even soft skin German vehicles were painted dark yellow 1943? Is this teh case?

That is correct. Panzer yellow, Yellow over Grey, Yellow and Green, Yellow and Red, and even Yellow Red and Green. All dependent on local conditions and time of year. Some soft skins lasted in grey alot later than armor. Double check I can't I'm away from my referances right now, was the Panzer yellow order in Feb 1943 or Feb 1942?

1943 the panzers switched to the standard base coat of "sand yellow "
and then "dunkelgelb" ( dark yellow ).

Toward the end, I think everything coming off the assembly lines was painted in whatever was available. Darker colors worked better as the fighting moved off the steppe and into rubbled cities.
