Assuming you are really talking about the T-55 Enigma (can't be sure without the pics...), this is actually an Iraqui variant with I believe concrete(!) armor enclosed in metal. We actually had a little discussion here on Armorama on the purpose of this armor layout and concluded that it was made to look like one of the NATO tanks (Abrams or Cally) and the weird looking additions to the back of the turret could be counterwaights to get a better weight distribution around the whole turret... without them there could be too much strain on the front of the turret

That is weird... Tjere was a post without text to open this tread, and there where about 3 photo's in a separate post. A white painted T-55 (?) with those large square 'boxes' on the turret sides and rear. Paul's reply seems to explain what is was, but as to where it's gone??
