Would the M8A1 tractor with dozer blade be ok for this campaign? I'm getting this kit for Christmas so would like to know.

2:Specialist/purpose built vehicles used by engineering battalions,eg dozers, bridgelayers, avre'setc.Again Field mods will be accepted with the same proviso's as above.
But how was the M-8A1 originally used?
if it was a tractor for a wheeled arty piecs, but used the blade to create an emplacement, that would be border line,It wasn't created to do recovery, more like it was the prime mover which would be able to emplace the weapon it towed. On the other hand,it would have to "recover" the gun to move it.... (++) (++) (++)

Guys
I've given this some thought and (please correct me if I'm wrong) It seems that the M8A1 is an artillery tractor with dozer blade fitted? If so then I would say that it doesn't qualify for the campaign, but if it was used by engineer battalions etc then it would. Could someone please advise me on this?

I don't have any info on it's actual use, so I'm happy to go with any ruling here - I'm gonna make it anyway, just won't enter it for the campaign.

Howdy fellas,
In an attempt to shed some more light on this subject I will submit this photo of the vehicle in question.
As you can see, there were several different configurations of this rather useful tracked platform. Including, but not limited to creating 'hull down' positions for tanks, leveling/clearing laager positions for troops and support vehicles, trans & delivery of ammo, supplies, etc, and with the attached overhead I-beam crane arrangement as shown in the above photo, the removal and installation of engines and oversized/heavy parts when a standard M88 was potentially not available on station.
Hope this helps you Stormbringer.

I cannot provide a definitive answer, BUT ...
Given the definitional differences among countries of "Engr" & "Recovery" ...
and
Given there was a wrecker version of the M8 ...
and
Given it looks pretty multi-use (stretching here)...
and
Given it is not another Tiger, Sherman, etc ...
and
Tread & Dave appear to have honorable intentions ....
and
Given I just might get one myself & try to convert the wrecker version sometime in future ....
I'm "vote" to let them both in ...
and
I apologize for sounding like the lawyer, I am not ...

Guys
I think that the M8A1 is borderline for this campaign but yes I will allow it.
