After seeing this picture, I thought it would be interesting to attempt to recreate it.
This is my first attempt at a non-urban setting, no buildings.

Second, it was the first attempt at re-animating a figure by sculpting part of it, legs of the figure raising his helmet. Other than the construction of a single tree, this is the first attempt at doing any sort of foliage. Lastly, as much as I hate admit it, these are first US infantry figures that I have ever done. Excuse the pictures they were not from a digital camera, so what appeared to be decent lighting at the time did not turn out that way.

As always, any and all comments are appreciated.

Hey well done, that little vignette tells a big story. That youngster is very concerned about loosing his head! I like the B/W version it looks like the real thing. Nice job on the hedge row., the only thing I would change (if possible) is to make his head come up a little more, which gives the "punch " to the scene. Only a kid would try this trick, then stick his head up to see if its working.

Cheers

Looks good! Lots of implied action in a small base. What material did you use to sculpt the legs. The pic is a bit blurry there, but looks like they turned out well.

Could you get a pic from the other side of the bushes so we can see what a German sniper might see?

Very nice dio. Maybe by an accident but you put light as the sun sets and it gives very interesting shadow on your pics. You can imagine: sniper with sun low behind his back. almost impossible get alive

Thank you for the comments.

Jan
The positioning of the second figure hides his M1, but I assure you he has one.

Kancali

I used Milliput and paper clips for the legs

I re-shot the pictures and maybe this time the lighting will be a little better

Once again, I appreciate the comments

Great diorama Jay. What materials did you use for your foliage? It looks very realistic.

Keith,

All the material for the foliage are Woodland Scenics applied to a plant stock, which I have no clue as to what they are but I have a few of them around my house and they dry out and resemble little tress.
