I need some expert advice on the colour of my m18 hellcat. The first base coat of olive drab was strait from the bottle,i used Tamiyas XF62 which was too dark.so i added some Tamiya buff to lighten it but it was still too dark.so i have just added some dark yellow to the olive drab green and i think its a lot lighter, what do you think? Thanks in advance oh the gloss on the paint is future!

The only time I liked XF-62 was to show a "wet" look on soldier uniforms. It is WAY too dark for an average OD color, even counting in pigment variations that were common place at the time. I just use ModelMasters OD. But it does serve as a good color for preshading and a base coat to add on a lighter OD.

But, yes, your pictures do look fine. The model looks good overall thus far.

Karl,
I think the color looks good. Except for the tracks the M18 is a great model isn't it?
Tamiya's OD is way too dark to use straight on a green model. I have been mixing 40% white with 60% OD. Havn't tried the MM OD but will give it a try.
