I like your work very much Eric!
I enjoy especially the "real" point-of-views like the one peeking in the back door. This made me want to scratchbuild something bigger than just figures. Inspiring work!

Off goes my hat.

Eric,
Just outstanding work! I love to look inside a model and see that level of detail. You have a real winner there. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I wish there were more articles like this on here. I dont believe in spending much more than the price of a kit on a certain subject. Ive never scratchbuilt a model variant like this before and now Im actually tempted to give something like this a go. First class article.

I was reading on missing links this morning where someone is to build a ferdinand and wanted to limit his add-ons to under 200 dollars. He was wondering if he could get them all for this price. This has actually shocked me. People have come to the stage now where they want to copy the experts/professionals/magasine writers/millionairs/etc so much they wont build a model unless it has every add-on known to mankind. And thats not even including 2 or more books on the subject. I think IŽll start another post on this subject as this is off topic.
Well done on a great conversion and thanks for showing people that you dont have to take out a second mortgage to build a model

Frank ' plastic battle '

You spoke the right words.
It is my goal to produce and create models in the most cheapest way .
Why spend so much money on all those extra's ??

In my opinion it is not neccesary to buy these things.
Even with the minimal recources you can create a very nice model as i proved with my Mercedes.
Ofcourse i own some of the extra goodies that can be used but i is not neccesary to use them.
Look around you in gardens , the kitchen , the fridge , construction places and so on...
There are a lot of things that can be used for modelling.
Why buy the expensive things ? Build it yourself will give you more satisfaction :-)
I hope i will see some more of these things here at Armorama !!!

Eric

Eric, is there any way you can expand on how you got the dirt/dust effect done so well? I really like the way you have it 'collecting' in certain areas. Thanks.

Bryan,

The dust is a procedure of two things.
First i added Humbroll 29 in and on the most area's. I did this with a wash that is a slight thikker than the normal wash. Then when the wash was not completely dry i added pastels in the corners of the ridges.
When is dried i dusted the pastel away with a soft brush so that the dust stayed on the ridges of the windows and doors. To get the dust on the flat surfaces i tamped it carefully on the flat places. So that the grey underpaint dissapeard. Then i took the same soft brush and carefulley dusted the corners so that is stayed in and on the places where i wanted it.
This is a hell of a job , it took me almost a whole evening to get this result.
For your information i used not the artists pastels but pastel that i bought in a train shop.
It is a plastic bag with 12 small cups in different colors as i described in the article. I'ff checked the bag but the content of the cups is pigment not pastel chalk . The advantage over pigment is that the powder is more stonger qua color than pigment and the adhesive is better.
The brand name of that pigment powder is ARTITEC. I don't think you can buy that in the U.S. Because it is a Dutch product. But if you want some i can always help you out to buy some for you and ship it over to the U.S. if you want...
Hope i helped you out..

cheers
Eric

Eric,
If you'd like to publish the Dutch version here also that would be great. It's actually a pretty simple process to switch the text around now that I have all the HTML done.

Thanks,

Was wondering....how do the rail scales match up to model scales? For example, is HO scale closer to 1:72nd, 1/48th, 1/35th etc....they have some cool buildings and military equipment available on that site that Eric listed above. Imagine building a model railway with armored trains, panzers, flak stations, bombed out houses...this site makes it possible!!

Jeff,

At first thanks for your kind words.
As for what the Bridge dio concerns....
First i have to finish another figure ( 1:16 ) . A Ranger ( captain ) from Alpha Images.
Second i have to write another Feature for this site. What ? That remains a secret...
Then i have to buy at the next Twenot contest some things i need for the bridge dio. A P.E. set for the tank a i want to build and a P.E. set for the two motor cycles. And i have to brainstorm on how i gonna create the water for underneath the bridge.
So that are the things that has to be done first.
But no worry the bridge will be finished.
As soon as al the things tht i described are done i'll continue building on the bridge dio.
That will be around oktober 6th.
Then i hope to finish the compleet bridge around november.
After that i will be continueiing building at my bunker. Most of the itmes i need for the bunker are at hand exept for some detailed information but there are some friends who will visit the sight this month and will take some detailed pictures for me.

So bear with me these next few months..

Cheers

Eric
