Would there be any modifications to a 251/1 D when pulling a Pak 40. For example, would any seats be removed to accommodate the storage of rounds.
Any input would be appreciated.

No, if you look in the carrage part there is shelves on every side of the AFV. They usually store weapons right there but most of them were removed for the rounds. The rounds were not very big and often stored on the outside of the Halftrack in the compartments.

Yep the 251 was modified.
Where the front machine gun and sheild are there is a cut out to clear the recoil system.
Also there are support brakets that go from just behind the diver and radio operator up to where the cut out is,
I take it you are talking about the SdKfz 251 / 22

I miss read pulling as putting. When the SdKfz 251 is used for towing the PaK 40 I don't think there were many modification internally.
