Hi,
I'm planning to paint a few German figures in oak leaf pattern.
I followed the advice on Missing Lynx but I don't like the way it looks like.
So I need a few requests:
1) Can someone help me on how to paint an Oak LEaf Pattern on 1/35 scale figures? I want making an Ardennes scene and I don't want all my figures to be dressed in pea camo pattern.
2) Can you provide me a link to a site (or a thread here in Armorama) on how to paint German uniform Camo ASIDE from pea pattern?
3) Lastly, there was a post here that provides a link to colored pictures of uniforms worn by the Germans. I can't find it anymore. Can someone give provide me that link? I need to check out the uniforms so I can replicate it to my figures.
Thank you very much.

hi Angela,
if it is Oak leaf spring pattern; I paint the basecolor in dark tan or dark earth.then I make dark green isles on that and paint interior of those isles in pale green..then i add some dots on the pale green. I think Jackhammer81(Kevin) posts can help you well on that because he painted very good camo figures lately.
a few links for WW2 german camo

if more help needed please PM

Hi Jesper,
Thank you so much for the link.
Hi Graywolf,
What kind of paint do you use? i used Tamiya Acrylics for the base color and oil paints for the pattern.
Am I doing something wrong?
Angela

Hi Angela, I understand a little about your problem. With mine the paints used have been craft paints to vallejo acrylics to model master enamels. With all my figs i did the brown colors in acrylics and the greens didnt seem to matter between the enamels and the acrylics. the thing you want to watch for is to get a good camo pattern that matches well in 1/35th. do you have a pic of yours for us to look at thayt may make it easier to make suggestions. cheers Kevin

Hi Kevin,
Well, I airbrushed Tamiya acrylic Flat Earth on the figs first. When it dried, I tried to apply a light green, then dark green for the camo. I experimented with oils.
It's hard to apply the camo pattern with oil. The oil just keeps "sliding off". I'll try to check out using acrylics.
I still have to paint my first oak leaf pattern figure so, I'll take a pic of it when it is finished. Which comes to another problem since I can't seem to upload my pics (progress of my dios).
Hi Engin,
Yep, I'll check the Battlefront link right now. And, oh, thank you very much for providing me the other links and your PMd suggestion.

Hi Angela,
There is one article in FSM about painting camouflage uniforms by Lynn Kessler. The topic is discussed was about the Eichenlaub or Oak Leaf pattern...very detailed..from start to finish. The FSM not FHM I'm talking about is the October 2002 edition. If you have that edition your problems are solved...

Hi Arvin,
I'm afraid I don't have that issue. Do you have it? If you have, is it okay for you if you scan the article and email it to me?
Or do you have a URL to the FSM site that links to this article?
Thank you.
Angela

Angela- If I remember correctly, I've got the issue of FSM that Arvin mentioned above. Let me check on this tonight & If I have it I can send it to you. (Post or maybe even electronically.)
RobH
Oh, also- If you'd like you can emial your pictures to me & I'll post them in an "Angela" folder in my Gallery. I've got plenty of space & nothing to show for it. Not the perfect solution, but it may help until you can get your gallery back...

Hi Robert,
Long time no hear.
I think it would be better if you send it electronically. Aside from you retaining yor copy, the mailing system here really sucks...it takes more than a month to receive mails from your end. Got this present problem of mailing with Blade48mrd. He sent me something November 4 and I still haven't received it until now.
Just tell me how to "download" it. I'm not really that good in computers, you know. To start with, I have an Adobe Reader but I'm not sure if I have a ZIP program.
Yes, the offer of sending you some pics while waiting for my gallery to function again is good. Uhmmm...can you give me your email address in PM?
Thank you.

Hey Angela!
No problem, on the pics, just check my Profile. My email addy is there.
My scanner may be offline just now (which is why I said "maybe" in my first post) so I might just hi-res photograph them & send them to you as an attachment. I'll see if I have any other refs that can be useful to you when I pull this up.
I'll set up your folder now, but please don't get too impatient if it seems to take me a while to load them. I'm at work & the Boss is all over me this AM for some reason...
Good talking to you again!

Hi Angela,
I do have a copy of the FSM (I was actually looking at it while responding to your post). It was good that Robert volunteered to provide you with an electronic copy. Is as much as I want to give you a copy, to be honest, up to now I'm still thinking of how to post it....hmm...got my camera with me now...I'll also give it a TRY and get a pic...

No problem about the FSM copy.
Cool! Thanks for the link, Arvin. I'll definitely be able to use it.
