Before I start work on my new model, I want to set this straight. I have the following paints -

Model Masters (testors) acrylics
Tamiya Color enamel paints
Humbrol Enamels

I dont have the thinner for the specific brands.
I suppose that the acrylics can be thinned with distilled water, but what shall I use to thin the enamels?

I have a bottle of acetone (nail polish remover) that I use to remove unwanted paints from the plastic surface & I have used it as thinner before on some other paints. Can I use it on these enamels?
Cheers & thanks in advance,
WD.

Mate

I don't know about using acetone for an enamel thinner - I haven't tried it. I have used lacquer thinners with Humbrol paints without any problems in the past. I imagine it would also work with the Tamiya enamels.

I usually use the brand thinner for painting and the lacquer thinners for cleaning however in the past I have gotten out of rhythm and accidentally used the lacquer thinner for painting and only realised it after I have finished. :-)

Not being familiar with India - I would imagine that some sort of hardware or general store would have lacquer thinners. I bought a 4 litre can which will last me a long time - I hope.

if tamiya enamels are like the acrylics, you might want to try using the product they make especialy for thinning there paints. i get better results with there thinner than with alchohol or water. i can defenetly say its worth the $ (for acrylics..)

This is a duplicate post. I believe all of his questions were answered here.
