Our "Submission Monster" , Russ Sharp aka "SAS" rides again.

Russ Sharp is a very talented builder who pleased us more than once with pictures of his high quality dioramas. Again he decided to submit new pictures of a couple of his creations. The pictures of his dioramas are definately worth a visit, so enjoy " Long Tom " : M35 prime mover and Long Tom on the move...

JHC, Russ, enough already! :-) Of course I'm one of the lucky ones who gets to see these up close and personal! Smooth work buddy, I think your daughter is going to need to bring ya another ton of storage boxes for all of these! ha ha ha

Hey I was planning on a small dio with the same lay out..... :-)

Looks amazing. The only thing I want to say is that the M35 was not the prime mover of the Long Tom (the AFV club box of the M35 is wrong here), but I think they were used sometimes to pull Long Toms, so it's still a accurate diorama! (and as I said, I was planning on a similair diorama, but I can't find a good model of the long tom prime mover of which I've forgotten the name, so I wanted to use the M35 as well hehe)

Hi Martin,
It should be safe to say that the LT's were probably moved by anything that would haul it, I believe Russ has shown me pics of the LT being hauled by the M35 before.

Thanks guys, your comments are appreciated. I must
clarify something about my models,I grew up as a kid with military vehicles all around me,living in Germany and in Gagetown NB,I learned very quickly to love MVs
so now I build military vehicles for the love and fun of admiring them. Total accuracy is not one of my high points nor will it ever be,my reasoning is that if I start pressuring myself to get things absolutly right I will lose the fun of putting something together. I enjoy putting a vehicle into a setting or situation or doing a vehicle as a used vehicle in the field, but that`s as real as it`s going to get for me. As for the Prime Mover,I think those words were given to all heavy artillery haulers m35,the Highspeed Tractors or the MackNR 6x6. This m35 is not the AFV kit but a leftover m10 chassis.

I dunno Alan,I`ve been impressed with quite a bit of
workmanship from the members of Armorama and you and I should be honoured to be among all these
great model builders! I remember when I first started
building, and believe me it wasn`t anything to write home to Mom about,30plus yrs later I`m posting on a
huge modelers forum and I`m havin a blast.

I am very much in the same boat as Russ, in the way he builds, I'm having too much fun building the kit than worrying about wether or not it's 1,000% accurate, and like Russ if I start worrying 'bout it, I know I won't be long lasting in this hobby, so I just build, and see what the end result is. For example, I'm scratchbuilding a house ruin right now, and I'm actually having more fun than building the vehicles that will be going into the scene! :-) :-)

The M35 was an interim vehicle until the M6 Tractor came on line; used to pull the 240mm Howitzer or 8in Gun. While it could have pulled a Long Tom, it is doubtful as it was a stop-gap for another purpose.

There are two kits for Long Tom Prime Movers in 1/35:
PSP makes the M4 HST
ADV/Azimut makes the Mack NO
Both expensive but good.

Eagle:
I'd love more close-up shots of the Long Tom -- especially the stowage of stuff on the trails !!! I am curious why the gun has not been jacked out of battery for travel, and the A-frame left off.
