Good Morning Folks: Well I was in my local hobby store yesterday, That got my blood going "AGAIN" And perhaps this Might be old news to some of you. BUT for me it was great news, So What was it. Tamiya has released it's New 35 scale Tiger-1 Tank with full interior detail. I only got to look at it briefly. So I was not able to get the full infomation to share with you. BUT I do remember that it is in a Greyish looking box. And the cost her was at 45.00 Dollars. Not too BAd, But still I thought it was pretty cool. Some point in the future I will be addding it to my Pile. I still want another shot at that kit, SInce my previous failure with the Academy kit last year. So if anyone else has seen or purchased this kit already and can give us a heads up on it. That would be great or at least let me in on the secret.

There are no 'failed' models. Learning experinces, they are. Gain experince from them you do. Learn things you must. Practice, patience, perserverance; these things an apprentace must learn. Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try.

Anyway. The kits sounds cool, let us know what you think when you get it!

Dagger-1,

I haven't heard that Tamiya will release a 1/35 Tiger with interior not even on Tamiya web site. All I know is Tamiya has 1/25 Tiger I with full interior that I had built it many years ago.
Dagger-1, do you have the production no. of that 1/35 Tiger I?

And Yes I would have learned something from it. But, Now I will get another shot at it. BUT this time in the Tamiya Kit...This Morning though I am still asking myself, Was I seeing things or was it real .. LOL, Well.. I will know more later in the day. SO standby Guy's and Gal's, And I will keep you posted.

Okay Guys and Gals: I made a phone call this morning after the shop opened and Here is what I learned.. Kit # 35146, Tiger-1 Late Model, With interior detail, 2 figures, Seperate Track links, And accururately reproduced suspension system.. It look pretty awesome guys and gals... But I don't know about that link tracks. I tend to shy away from those. I guess I may have to try it anyway. Well short of buying it, (Which I can not afford right this moment) That is all I know.

Is this kit packaged like that by Tamiya, or is it some other kind of offer? For example, I've seen some kits in a hobby store being sold with PE parts that wouldn't normally come with the model. I think the guys in the store just put them ontop of the box and shrinkwrapped it. I like the sounds of this kit, so if it is Tamiya's doing, it would be available to me here as well.......then I'd have to get it

Are you sure this is a production kit? It sounds like it is in some other kind of packaging.

I would think the Internet would be abuzz with news of this, but yours is the first mention of it.

Did you get a chance to see into the boxl? Is it all styrene?

If it is a new kit, especially with the indy link tracks which is a huge plus for me, I want one...

Well Guys and Gals, After doing more snooping and asking around It turns out that I was Wrong..."SORRY" It appears to be an older kit that has been out for about 5 years. So I guess that I jumped the gun, I guess I had not noticed it before. Either way it appears to be an interesting model.. Now weather I buy it or not is a different issue, especially with the Indiv-Link tracks. Buit it does have on the cover....Interior Detail inside.. That Might make it worth the purchase. Or I may go back to the Academy Kit. But will have to think long and hard about it.

I have the Academy Early Tiger and it is very well done. I don't think you could go wrong with the Academy Tigers, especially since the full interior version kits cost the same as a Tamiya Tiger without interior. I've never built thbe Tamiya Tiger, though, so I can't really say anything specific about it, but the Academy kit is definitely worth the price, and if you want to have even more fun, there's plenty of PE kits out there.......

Dagger, if these are the same links as on the Strumtiger (the huge sp mortar) they are a breeze. Hardly even needed glue to assemble them.

Dagger Those tracks are the easiest link to link to build. Use testors liquid glue to assemble them. The feature on track building should help you. Clean up on the links is very easy and the directions tell you how many to use per side. The kit sounds like the "Special Edition Tiger". The interior is very limited and no where near the academy detail.

I had gotten this Tamiya #35146 several years ago but there was no interior details. Was the one you mentioned has fully interiors?

Hi Dagger

Kit 35146 is over 10 years old.

It was the first NEW super-duper armor kit from Tamiya at the time.
A lot of parts in all their later Tiger kits come from these originals (as do the Sturmtiger hull etc).

It is very good, but like almost all Tiger kits has a symmetrical turret as opposed to asymmetric. That is, the gun should not be mounted right on the midline of the turret, and the 'horseshoe' shape is not a perfect shape. Dave Byrden's Tiger I site details all this.
http://www.tiger1e.com/

Only the two latest Tiger 1's from Tamiya get this close (the Afrika and Early versions).

It depends how anal - I mean accurate - you want to be!

The Academy Tiger 1 is also a very nice kit.

Hi Steve, Maybe just the part of the gun, because the kit is about 10 years old, if I remember correctly, it was one of the new Tiger Tamiya did with the asymmetric turret, and back then partial gun can already be labelled as interior.... :-)

Hi Steve, always glad to provide information I have. On the other hand, I had finished the painting of the partial interior for my Tiger, and almost done the rear upgrade for it, I will send you some in progress pictures. So are we still good with the model building thing this weekend?

Dave,

Sure with the building thing on this weekend, Sunday will be ok. The problem is how can I take the fragile models over your place with my motorbike? Maybe, I just bring some figures.
By the way, we keep sending message thro here will make our promotion faster...right

Yep, some figures will be nice, besides I like to see you do your figures in person as well. You bet we can get our promotion faster here. Sergeant
