Or...Land Rover formerly known as "Pink Panther"
Yes, I'm back! After putting in countless, tiring hours as a handyman, I have two weeks off to begin a small truck model I bought for the wheels.
A few months ago, I was working on my scratch-built Guntruck and I needed some wheels. I settled on wheels from the Quad Gun Tractor, but, before that I had purchased the Tamiya "Pink Panther" Land Rover kit to examine it's tires. They weren't right and the model went into the stash.
Now, Although I haven't had a minute to think for the last few months, I did stop in and read some posts and checked out some projects a few of you have going. Neb-el-...something, did a pinkie so well, it made me want to pull mine out and build it.
So I have. And yes, out of the box is out of the question!
I'm not going to do a project that is so big that it will wind up in any "not finished yet" category like so many other things in the workshop. I don't like pink really and a few of the details need to be "updated" to create something that would sit proudly in my own driveway.
I started last night by re-configuring the bed to more of a pickup style and the driver's compartment to a left-side control (American style). Should be cool!
Look for pix soon!

So I have. And yes, out of the box is out of the question!
I would be more surprised if you did stay in the box. Glad to see you back at it. Post some photos when you get the chance. I would like to see how you go about the steering conversion from right to left.

Yeah, right!
I have heard of building straight from the box, but, what fun is that!
It is good to hear from ya Animal! I missed logging on very much!
Now, pictures! I really had no problem moving the controls over to the left side. I re-did all of the floor in diamond plate as well as the dashboard. I used some plastic rod as a new steering column and set up the pedals as well as start the new gauges.
Now, the bed is all glued up, but, the rest of the body is just dry-fitted for these pictures. Nothing is glued to the frame.
The right seat will remain out and some sort of weapon system will be installed. Not at all sure what, I have to rummage through the spares box.
So far it's been a fun little build. I am really starting to dig the little softskins trucks. I want to (eventually) do another LRDG 15cwt Chevy, a Dodge WC command car and the Zvesda M3 scout car in the future.
Back to work with me!

Tanks Animal...
I mean thanks.
Tanks are boring.
Trucks just rule
Made the left (driver's) door.
Fashioned a windshield.
Started jigging the new front bumper frame and winch.
Pix will be ready in the morning!
Hi-ya Roo
I love Truck O' Rama!
Most excellent!
Gotta check paint.

Stll needs some work, but, I wanted some imput from you guys.
Here's the windscreen.

Yeah,
I'm thinking some sort of tech support for the big HCRT. Maybe part radio truck, part guntruck.
Arms of the octopus so to speak!

No, bummer.
I have spent the last 6 weeks getting trains running on the layout downstairs.
Which is why I'm back.
Looking for stuff to scratchbuild in 1/160th.
I make periodic trips back to the Big-A.
