Why is the barrel a different color? I guess you have several spots a different color. What is going to happen on those spots?

I'd like to make a guess....hmm....the red color is supposed to replicate the red-oxide primer used by Germans in their armor...and if ever he wishes to put some paint chips then it would show the primer(?). Just a guess....

I like the way you painted the roadwheels...how did you paint them using a circular template?

Can't wait to see the finish product....

Cheers

I think those are replacement parts installed later which were not camouflaged when the war was going to its end. The area on the back is where the metal boxes would normally hang, but I guess they lost them or throw them down.

Anyway, great tank, can't wait to see it weathered.

The red paint was to cover up the metal parts so the paint will stick to it better. Red was not the germans base color. If the paint chipped it would not be red.

Tsunami

I could buy that theory since the barrel was metal and it's possible the storage boxes to be installed will be metal. However the one wheel that is red blows that theory because it's not metal.

Very nice paint job so far.

Alan the Red parts should represent field repairs, Late in the war replacement parts came from the factory just primed. Paint was to scarce. Tanks came from the factory in straight primer as a rush in the end!

Harrison Yes the primmer would show thru at times especially if the vehicle had a coat of Zimmert and it chipped off.

Harrison,

I know Germans did not use red but rather red-oxide primer w/c is almost red-brown in color or something darker....I opted not to nitpick the red color because it might be caused by changes in color during photography... ....just a guess... :-)

cheers

I like the nice Dunklegrun base coat you have here. Although it seems a tad too bright in shade, but it still looks awesome. Maybe due to your lighting or camera ? Even with that its very interesting and well-done.

What I really like are the red-oxide primer 8.8cm barrel, the replacement roadwheel, and "new" parts to the vehicle. The best representation of this is where those rear stowage bins sould be. Great idea !

Keep sending the pics ! Cant wait to see how you make out

Cheers !!

Hi, guy`s , thank-you and some answers; Juul the colour i used was a mixture of Humbrol[105/120/80], in various amounts until i was happy with the shade.. Arvin, yes i use a wheel template, specifically for the German vehicles....

Cheers
