Hi there...
I've got a few new photos of the Danish Leopard 1A5 DK, in UN-colors. The photos was provided to me by a Swede - Niklas Karlén, who was in Bosnia at the time.
I thought it migh be interesting!
I've got a few more here: http://www.howitzer.dk/vehicles/danishafvleopa1a5.htm

Looks good, thanks for sharing. As a tanker, I would really hate to paint my tank white unless I was fighting in the artic!

I have to say though, the white sure adds to the dirt/grime and overall weathering effect your model would show...personal politics aside(and i think you could read btwn the lines on that) the UN vehicles really stand out in a crowd...i may just have to crank one out myself...oneday...when i get more time. Right, like that will ever happen...more time....sure, i can just set my watch back three hours and have a go.
Many thanks Bjoern, for the pics, they've been saved to my "AFV to do" folder. (:-)

AARRRGGHHH!! So many Leopards, so little time! Thanks for providing the great pics. The number of Leo's I want to build is now starting to approach the number of Shermans I have planned!

Whats with the U.N and their skyblue helmets? don't they know that defeat the purpose of camouflaging.

The purpose of the the white UN vehicles and blue helmets is not to be camoflaged! - It's actually quite opposite! - They want to be seen!

Very true. They are there to show a presence. They want the locals (military and otherwise) to know they are on location and are a show of peace-keeping force.

A few interesting point about these. The Danes were the first(and only I believe) to fire a shot in anger from a Leopard 1 during the dark days of UNPROFOR. One of the tanks took a hit from an RPG which broke a headlight and scorched the paint. Theose who fired the RPG weren't so lucky.
The TWMP is produced by Isreali aircraft Industries. The ones used by the Danes were provided by Canada as IAI couldn't quite meet the delivery requirements. IAI delivered the new ones to Canada. I'd be interested in seeing the data plates on the Danish ones.
Here's a photo of mine from a few years ago:

They destroyed a 40mm Bofors AA gun and crew that shot at them too.

The Serbs were lucky! The danish Leopards could have destroyed the 3 serbian T-55s in the area too, but the ROE of the UN was followed: "Only guns actually caught in act of firing may be hit"
Somebody should pin a medal on the chest of Lt. Col. Møller for showing the serbs that you can't fire upon UN forces without getting fired upon.

Agreed. Perhaps if the UN ROE were a bit more robust like the NATO IFOR/SFOR ROE, there would have been fewer atrocities like Srebrinica.

Hey
Paul the TWMP the danish Leopad 1A5 used a little later (1996) in Bosnia after being repaninted green/black and with white IFOR markings, was made by IMI or IAI in Israel. I had a look at the type plate.
Best regards
