Hi all,
I'm working on a Chruchill VII and have applied the dark green base coat and coated it with Future (Klear here in the UK) ready for the decals. I have not used Future before and wanted to check that it will withstand a wash of oils thinned with turps or mineral thinners without reacting to the thinnner.
So, after I've applied the decals and a second coat of future, can I used heavily thinned oils for the wash?
TIA.

Should pose no problems. I've used the same method with oils and odourless turps. But as always, try on a scrap piece or in some discreet spot.

future is kind of like enamels, it needs at least 48 hours to fully cure

I have seen that different thinners, turps and white spirits have different results, with different paints and different plastics. It doesnt take that much thinner for one model, so I play safe and only use humbrols own enamel thinner. Its great for thinning both humbrol enamels and oils and is mild enough, not to do any damage. I also believe you should let the future cure for 48 hours at least. The little extra cost is worth it for peace of mind.

In my experience the only thing that has caused a problem with Future, once it has cured, is lacguer/thinner. I have never had a problem with turpentine or mineral spirits. Cheers
