Hi all!
Well, among the most common missing pieces from tank models are the periscopes and
other hatch interior details.
Who makes the best sets for German and Allied armor (WW2)?
I'm looking for ease of assembly (avoiding multiple PE parts for something a few mm in
size!), accuracy and bang for the buck (like how many sets come in the box!).
Thanks
Andy

Andy:
Fine Molds makes some nice periscope sets. I have seen their U.S. and German periscope sets and they look pretty good. The scopes are molded in clear plastic, so all you have to do is install and paint them.
HobbyLink Japan has photos of all of them.
Verlinden also has periscopes in resin, as do a few other companies.

1. Paint the entire part with silver enamel except the area that is supposed to resemble glass.
2. After step 1 dries......I use either the interior color or the exterior base color of the vehicle to over coat the parts that I just painted silver . Be sure to leave a few "nicks and scratches" on the periscope by leaving a small amount of silver showing here and there.
3. After step 2 dries.......apply a little thinned down Tamiya Clear Green acrylic paint to the areas that are glass. Once dry, this color really looks like armored glass.
I hope this helps........Otto
let me know if you have any questions

Jeff I think different methods of manufacturer produce different colors. I've seen blue, pinkish, red, black, green and I'm sure there are variations. I guess you just need to check your references and adjust your clear color. so My long winded answer is yes it should work for russian stuff.
