HAi,
I have an old bottle of maskol which is still "liquid" but to thick to use. Therefore I recently bought a new plastic bottle of a similar product (water based) but I have the same problem despite that it is brand new. It must have spend a long time on the shelve in the shop.
the question is whether i can safely add a solvent (and which one) to the maskol or my new product?
Safe in the sense that:
- it does what it is supposed to do
- it does not eat the plastic (clear canopy) on which i use the maskol

Hi, I don't know the answer to this, but I got fed up in the same way. I have given up on maskol and use simple PVA / white glue when I want to mask up. It's easy to apply and remove, although if you leave it very long it does become quite hard to remove. Just a thought.

I've never heard of anybody being able to thin this stuff. I think you should probably dump it. To be sure you get something that's not been lying around for years, go to an art shop and get some art masking fluid.
