Built for the Granite State Model Club IPMS club build.

There are loads of scratchbuilt interior and exterior details mostly gleaned from the Achtung Panzer 7 and Aber and Eduard instruction sheets available on both websites. Unfortunately my film cam is not up to taking closeups.

The grass is Heki, the fence is Armand Bayardi, the rubble at the base of the fence is Hudson and Allen and is still damp at the time of the pics. It has dried to a darker shade since then.

The tree is a Supertree with Noch flocking and the wasps nest, both halves, is a lump of celuclay.

I still need to add a rock or stick to explain the broken nest and absence of the crew.

Nice work and it is great to see some humor!
And not just what happened to the poor crew in the dio, but isn't that also a pun in the title?
(The vehicle is a Wespe, correct? German for wasp?) Wasps in the Wasp!

Yes, exactly

Wasps meaning both the vehicle or the insects.

The idea came to me with the help of some friends, and by that time I'd buttoned up the rear shelf/hatch.

The piece of stryofoam blueboard I used for a base wasnt' really long enough to add the escaping crew, but that's ok, my figures aren't great.

I also thought of calling it "Irony" or "Ironic, isn't it?"

Glad you like it.

The Nashua, NH IPMS club met last night and the Wespe in quesiton managed to place 3rd.

Our own Dave S, Dixon66, took a well deserved 2nd and an equally well deserved first was taken by an AMPS advanced modeler who used everything , including a kitchen sink AND a powered rotating base, on the kit.

Lots of fun as a little build.

Thanks Mike for the kind words. A note to all who see the pics in this post, they don't do the dio justice. It is a sweet little build, frankly I thought MLD should have had second. We both were outdistanced by the first place build by a long way.........

Right back at you...,
I asked Devon what I missed at dinner afterwards and then took a close look.. aint that always the way it is.. cant see your own flaws until they are pointed out... The breech end of the gas cylinder on mine has a couple of seam bits showing. Not even whole seams, just bits that were not cleaned up as well as the rest..

It was that close.

Close between us that is.. the deep wallet on the other kit was nothing I could even begin to touch. :-)

It is great to see a finished kit with all that extra added to it, since so many of mine that start that way are still unfinished

Something rotary wing next?

Back from AMPS and the Wasps were worth a mid-silver medal in the intermediate class, entered as an open topped vehicle, not as a dio.

Seems there is a tiny seam on the end of the muzzle and one on the top of the mullfer.. go figger.

Still, it was nice to do well without spending a TON of money on aftermarket additions.

Congrats on the silver medal! Don't feel bad, they gave my VK 36.01 an advanced silver as they felt I had over faded the paint! Now tell me that's not subjective! Just remember life goes on, and there is always next year!

John,
Congrats on your medal as well. I think I remember seeing the Vk there on the table and thinking it looked like a fun kit to build. Anything too insane to watch out for?

Talk about subjective.. the guy who did the RSO snowblower, best German, is in our club. He also did the US bulldozer, and while it was at AMPS last year and scored enough to get a gold last year, but ws outscored by another of his builds in the same catagory, and since rated a gold at AMPS east this last year as well... was a little surprised to earn a silver at AMPS this year because the weathering was uneven...
Too many different colors of mud they said...

We've corresponded before, right? You're way up north, near Burlington, yes?

Hiya Mike,

The VK was a fun project, but a tad expensive as it took two new connections kits to make the conversion. I also had to add some detail to the interior and exterior that was missing.

I live in the Montpelier area, so not as far north as Burlington.
