Hi Friends,
I made some new photo's of my SU-85. What do you think of it?
The colours are a bit darker then in real
These are just the base colours with an overall wash an some pinwashes. The opnly thing that I weathered is the running gear.
Thanks for viewing

yo jurjen,
nice paint and the gaps at the rear are oke now. Only I think the cover above the turret is wrong.
( :-) i'm just joking you now what i mean :-) )

Looks nice, you might want to blacken the insided of the exhust pipes, and rust their exterior.

I need to do many things though. I have ordered Archer decals and I need to weather the upper hull.
I made also a small dio base:

I also like the dio base.
Great job!!
But is this in russia?

That was the only thing I would know

Hi, excellent build and paint work you have. I only have one thing to offer on in that you might rust a little on the fuel drums where the strap clamps hold them. Cheers on and excellent model and base. Kevin

Very fine build. Very fine.
What are those stringy things on the tracks? They look very interesting. What are the colors of the washes you did on this model?
It's very beautiful. It would be even better if you muddy the upper hull a little. Maybe mud colored paint flicked with a toothbrush?

Thanks for the replies
Hi Francois, I have used Modelkasten Tracks for this one. Though they cost more than the SU but I just can't work with vinyl tracks
First I sprayed the tracks with Tamiya Flat black. MK tracks are very fragile so I didn't want to use enamels etc so I made a wash of simple water colours And I need to say, I love it!! It is very easy to work with, it doesn't stink and it dries fast (use an föhn) O well, I sprayed it black first. Then I added a wash of yellow ochre (water based) when this was still wet I sprinkled some static grass over the tracks. When this was al dry I made a few more washes but then mixed with burnt umber, black etc. And to be honest, I was stunned by the result. The finisch is really convincing, please try it yourself, you can see what I mean
Thanks for the tip Kevin I still need to do detail painting and the decals (I know, a bit late ) and a subtile drybrush.
Thanks for the compliments Angela, I really had many problems with this tank. It was actually the first time I used Oven cleaner ( I don't know how this is called in english) to remove the paint and I started all over again. This time I used a decent airbrush so everyting went oke
The tiny things on the tracks is static grass and the toothbrush? Good idea

I must have missed this one.
This starts to look really good. You seem to have missed the mufflers. But that will come ok I assume. Nice colours and a good deal of preshading. Your up to a good vehicle
I also see a good piece of groundwork in the original Zuijdendorp Style. Great job will be another one in the "Russian" row

Nice work on your SU-85, Jurgen. Your shade of Russian green is excellent ! Weathering is done really well, and I like how you did the groundwork.
What I really like is the level of weathering compared to the actual ground conditions.
Thanks for posting these pics !!
Greetz !
