Hope Im in the right forum, I hope to model the ambush on the Poteau road, well a small part of it,What I need to know is what type of road surfaces they had in that area Ive checked all my references but the roads appear to be covered in mud can anyone throw any light on this for me.

cobblestone,mostly in the villages
hardened sand/grind
asphalt (the early type)

The roads were pretty much dirt, but you add all that snow and heavy equpiment and it turns to MUD, thick and dark.

A long time ago I read a book on the Bulge it said most of the roads in that area were used for logging
trees. so I would say dirt roads

And water puddles where the road hasn't been churned up into mud by all the heavy traffic.
