Hello,
I need to paint the taillights on my Willy's jeep and Gmc truck, but I am not sure how?
I have Tamiya clear red for it, but I don't know wich collor I should use as a basecoat, some help please?
Second question: on the Willy's jeep there are also lights on the (back)sides, ore these also red?
Tnx

Not sure of the llight layout., but for any reflective glazed surface use a basecoat of silver or aluminum. When this is dry, use a drop of red.
Hint: Base coating a bottle with aluminum and painting it clear Tamiya smoke or green makes a fine looking glass bottle. :-)

Use silver as the base coat, I got this idea from CaptainJack and it works.

I think silver is fine for the bright red taillights but dor the darker ones i use gloss black then clear red.

Interesting techniques above...
I guess that I'm a lazy dweeb... I paint the tailights the vehicle color (while everything else is getting painted), then apply a red enamel paint (Testors) and when dry, I add the washes, then dull coat. The final 'touch' is a dab of gloss coat.
But that's just me I guess...
Thanks,

Ronny,
I had nearly the same question. Specially on the rear lights. I got some nice reference pics in replies to my post. Check it out:
