Hey all-
Right now, my creativity is for some reason just not working lately. So I thought I would tap into the enormous reserves here for some ideas. I am looking to create a diorama where a braille scale M8 Buford AGS would be the centerpiece. For those who don't know, the M8 is a light armored vehicle able to be carried on a C-130 aircraft. As for environment, I was thinking of doing something in an urban setting in either the Ukraine (after a military coup) or in Cuba (after Castro's death), but I am feeling open-minded. That's as far as I got. And for one other limitation: since this would be in 1/72 scale, accurate modern figures are hard to come by. Thanks for your help.

Hi Kyle,
I'm sorry my AFV knowledge is really rusty but did that vehicle serve in the Boznia peacekeeping ops. I was thinking something along the lines of the light AV operating in either a war torn urban environment or a village setting somewhere in Boznia. You could even throw in part of a wooden bridge for the village setting. Another idea would be the vehicle coming off a C-130 in a makeshift airstrip with other vehicles and pallets lying all over the place. Don't know if you can get a 1/72 C-130 but you really don't need the whole plane. Just scratchbuild the back end and let the partial plane sit at one corner of the dio.
I thought of Boznia as I understand things were pretty hairy there. Its going to be tough getting figures but I think either Revell or Italeri may have some modern figures in 1/72.
I'll let you know if any crazier ideas come out of the block.

Kyle-
try to get a hold of the Preiser Modern figures in 1/72nd . I have both sets and they are very detailed. Seperate arms and heads for each figure. The two sets are one "US Modern Troops Resting" comes with 16 figs i think and the other "US Modern Fighitng Troops" comes with 12 .
Great Models carries them both. They run about $12 a set. But they are in styrene. They are good quality figures
Heres the product #s for them
1/72 pe72519 US Modern Fighting Infantry
Status : Taking Pre Orders
pe72500 US Modern Infantry
Status Unknown.
Try getting them from your LHS. I know Stevens International keeps them in stock.

Thanks for the help guys.
CK, I too was considering Bosnia as an option. The M8 did not serve in any theater (it is an experimental tank) but I was going to do a theoretical type dio based on what the vehicle would do if it were an operational vehicle. There is a 1/72 scale C-130 but the tank as I built it wouldn't work (I added reactive armor plating that makes the tank larger in width; makes the tank look cooler, though).
Matt, I have wanted Preiser's modern infantry for a while but never got around to getting them. After I found out that Preiser was coming out with a set of truly modern (year 2000+) tank figures, I figured that a modern set of soldiers was coming soon. All other "modern" figures aren't really modern; most have the old PAGST body armor and Alice gear rather than the newer Interceptor body armor and MOLLE gear. Unfortunate but true.
Anyways, thank you both for your help.
