Hi everybody,
This is my first dio, I still to do a lot of work, but here are a few pictures of the progress.
Hope you'll enjoy it.
Commends are welcome.

Cool... You could use some chipped wood near the tree, with what did you create the ground, looks like a mossy floor. If youare gonna keep it like that, sink the tank in a bit. Tanks are quite heavy you know... :-) :-) :-)

looks good, like komet said, the floor looks mossy, so sinking it in a bit would look good, the tree trunk, dont forget to make the inside lighter , have any pics of the bushes, they look nice

Some figures, eitheron the tank or around would add some more feeling. If you do not have the igures, either a trench or some sort of an obstacle would do fine. If you do not want to make neither of these, just bury the tracks and add some branches with leaves on the tank for camouflage. Other than a little additins, the dio looks good to me.
Cheers!

Thanks but I haven't any idea how to sink the tank a little bit.
The base floor is allready dry.

Oops I was forgotten, thanks that you see this
The bushes was a experiment for me because I would see how the dio looks.

My plan was that I camuflage the tank with a lot of stuff.
And there comes also a tree near the tank (the way were you look at because if you look at eyehight you see the tank proberbly camouflaged)
There comes also a lot of stuff on the base ground.
Thanks for the reply's!!

Nice effort on your first dio. The moss looks well like moss which is great. You could still sink your tank a bit if you don't mind sanding down where the track sit. If you've used plaster you could sand down the ruts with a rotary tool.
Alternatively and much less painful is to add moss and soil to the edges of the tracks giving the impression that the tracks had churned up the soil.
Don't know if its too late but if you add small sections of real dried roots to the base of trunk it would enhance the trunk a fair bit. In fact if your looking to take up a bit of space just add a fallen dried up trunk with a bit of moss growing on it.

It looks good for your first dio. I did notice a couple things though.
1.) Im not sure if you have ever seen a Tank move through grass before. It puts its tracks into the grass imprinting the tracks, then it pushes the ground back causing the grass to become detatched to the ground. If you want this to look realistic, you could carve out the grass and put bare dirt there.
2.) I saw that you used Woodland Scenics fine turf. This is more for somthing that you would cover it up with. In this case your not. You could maybe go to www.woodlandscenics.com and order their static grass flock. That would give it a more realistic look of grass.
Other than that, everything looks excellent and I cant wait to see the Panther painted!

well congrats for dealing with dioramas at first .
Just some help.Ground work is rarely much unifrom in color , so small particles and other items on the ground give a color multiplicity , that u have to care for.
Track signs onthe ground is a reality when ground is medium soft or very soft so u also have to deal with this factor .
In my way of thinkin terms a dio is a dio when it includes at least 1-2 figures , other wise could be called a base for a tank or a vehicle. So it would be vnice to add some human life in this one.
Keep wotking my friend , u ll be rewarded in the end

Hi there, Thanks for the commends.
The tracks are quite a problem. The ground is allready dry so I couldn't do something anymore.
Have you any idea to solve this problem?????
I'm going to the store for other stuff, and I will look for the gras.
The sinking of the tracks isn't a problem.
I put grass between it.
I've put three trees in the dio, but I haven't the camara.
So I can't take pics
I will paint the groundwork in some colors for more a realistic look.
I don't want figs in my dio because it will ruined my dio.
My figs are very very very ugly. Believe me :-)

nice, to see people who have the guts to try a diorama.
I'can tell you it looks verry good for a first one.
Why not trying to use some longergras from Heki nr
1592 looks great on diorama's of 1/35 scale.
I'm experimenting with leafs of a branch called Joefix
great stuff to work with to create leafs on trees and ivy
and all that stuff. when my experiment is ready i post some pictures.
I ordered the joefix stuff by Gino Poppe.
modeling greetings, Feelpanzer.

A great first effort and the whole thing with dios is to enjoy the process thereare things that you can do to enhance as has been indicated use dry tea leafs are great for ground work or real dirt after a while things will fall in to place a real great effort
Cheers Chris

Hi,
Thanks for the commends.
I bought static grass and Berka.
For making trees.
I use parsley for the leaves.
The tank will be painted in dark yellow and camo will be painted in a sort of green.
Also with a lot of that Berka. For camouflage.

Depends what you used for your base. But, lets assume for the moment that the base is near-on indestuctible. You can fake it easily by doing the following:
1. adding some of your ground cover along the edges of the tank tracks (build up a small ridge and along where the tracks would have come from. Once you complete Step 2, its worth using a scupting tool to draw the ridge down into the shallow trench in places to make it look less uniform. Don't forget a little bit up the front of the tracks too, as the tank has stopped.
2. Use a hobby knife to scrape up your ground between the ridges to simulate damage to the area.
3. glue some scatter inside the ridges - something to represent the treads ripping up the soil. You don't need to overdo this - a mix of some dry leaves, tiny stones and sand would probably be fine. Don't forget to add a litte of this on the edges and just inside the track links, particuarly the ones currently on the deck.
4. Paint the area between these ridges a dark soil colour, then drybrush to bring up the textures. Keep it a mid-range colour though - if its a camoflaged position, the treads may NOT be overly fresh. it would only take an hour or so for the sun to dry the trench out.
That would give you the illusion of the treads without being a complete rebuild.
