Ola People

Well some of you might have read the In Box review and some might have seen the first update. which can bee seen under this link Well I finally managed to get meself working on it and I started the first stages of the weathering proces. Washing and Filtering and I did a little drybrush. At this moment there are about 25 different colored Filters on the upper hull structure all taking care of little discoloration of the basecolor. The first layer was quite dark.. with filters the whole upperstructure became more lighter and more "Used"
Okay here are the pics... they are not the best as the battery of my dads cam was empty and I had to use my own old cam. I will try to replace them later this week.

The next pic shows somethign which I Saw on a big truck on the island of Curacao and I thought it to be really cool so I tried to add the fingerprint thing also on my vehicle. I hope I succeeded at that.

The drybrushing is best seen on the fenders:

Of course I would like to hear all kind of feedback. The weathering stages have just began... Still more filters need to be added to the upperstructure. The lowerstructure needs to be weathered. Some drybrushing here and there and Pigments.... still a while to go.

Great looking Panzer mate!

Have you used after market sets?
I can't wait to see more pics (With the tracks on it )
Nice drybrush.
The only thing I don't like is the exhaust pipe, it's looks to rusty (to orange) , or is this just me??

But is is still a great looking vehicle!!

Keep going!!!!

Robert,

wow....your filtering did an awesome job. The color irregularity is very realistic. I do like your fingerprints too. I agree with Hilbert that the muffler in the final picture is too bright, Keep up the great work mate!

Ola Guys

Thanks for the compliments... I too found the Muffler in the pics quite bright and much too orange but It is actually only like that in the pics. the Original Muffler is darker when you look at it... My guess it is due to the light and the quality of the cam that they came out this way.

Herr Faustus,

The effort of 20 different filters shows us a nice subtile weathering and many subtile colour changes, superb! I really like it

Witch medium have you used for your filters? My tanks don't like it often to get 20 layers of turpentine, I still need to find a replament medium (I know they are out there but don't know where )

Your fingerprint idea is very original, but I don't see it quite clear on the pics. You should definately make some new photo's to show this exellent detail

I'm looking forward to your next update!

Ola Guys

Cliff..
Thanks for the compliments.. I will post more progress if I have some

Jurjen
First of all thanks for the compliments I`m glad you like it. You haven`t seen the first of the filters... 20 is not even the half of the Filters that are going on to this vehicle. Now I only did the filters for changing the basecolor of the tank. Next comes the filters that show the wear caused by the crew walking all over the tank.
Basically I only use Turpentine that I bought at the DIY store to dilute all my paints. I put some paint onto a piece of aluminum foil and dilute that quite heavily. Then I apply one filter and blow it dry. Then I apply another. To blend the 2 into each other I use a Q-tip wettened with some turpentine and I stroke over the whole surface. This does not smear the filters out ofver the whole area but it makes the two filters blend into each other better. I do it like this for years and never had problem with lifting paint and parts become brittle.

Thanks for the Comment on the fingerprints

More progress will come very soon

Ola Jim

First of all thanks for the Compliments.

Next I have been asked to make an article of the weathering technique(s) I use in the past. I haven`t done it as to now because I didn`t had the suitable camera for the quality of the pictures I want to have in my article(s) Now with the new cam I can make those quality shots.
I won`t do it off this tank though because the pics that are already made showing the beginstages are bad and the second set of pics is not that good either. I have another Panzerbefehlswagen from Master Box which I will paint in a Dessert Yellow tone on this color the weathering techniques are better visible and thus more interesting for an Article.

Great looking machine there Robert. I love the fingerprints. Looks very realistic..much like the doors around your house when the kids forget what the doorknobs are for. I love the look so far. I was wondering if maybe you can tell me a bit about this filtering you are talking about as i am new to this and am not aware of what you mean. Do you have an article on it or a link to somewhere that i can read about it.?...
Again..great Job..Can't wait to see more of this.

Ola Mary

Thanks for the reply and the compliments. Well not having kids myself (yet) I also see those fingerprints everywhere. And if they are really common nowadays why wouldn`t they be common 65 Years ago.
I have an article about Filtering by MIG (Miguel Jimenez) Which is quite good... But as with all the techniques I have learned through the years.... I read about them and I start making variants of the technique itself which suit me better. The next PanzerBefehlswagen I do will be featured in an article about Filtering and something which I call "Striping"
The Article of MIG can be found here
http://www.missing-lynx.com/rare_world/rw02.htm

I hope it is of some use for you and others. it sure makes the Vehicle more interesting then it mostly already is.

Weathering looks good, and I really like the dusty effect you have going here.

Nice fingerprint detail, it looks good.

I know you have plans for figures in both open hatches. Do they really obstruct the view inside? If not I'd add some 'gizmology' to break up the flat detail-less interior walls.

Ola Guys

Thanks for the comments.

Kevin
As I already said 25 filters is not even the half of the amount of filters I usually add to my figures. I more or less finished the upperstructure and am now painting the lower half. After that more filters will be added
Thanks for the comment on the fingerprints

Scott
I was concerned about that too so I bought books, checked the reference I already had and checked the web for decent pics. of the interior. But after testfitting the figs it came out that you cannot even see clearly inside for a half CM and I didn`t think it was neccesary to do some gizmology interior.

Thanks for the time guys
