G'day guys
well after about 4 hours work :-) my first part for my Dive Dive Dive entry is done ( which will be, in the end, a small diorama)
here she is, i decided to try the rigging, i believe it came out very good, considering how small this thing is, also the flag is hand painted.
Some of the photos are very Bright, the photo showing the whole ship is the most accurate to how the colors look when viewing this model with our own eyes.
there ya go
cheers

I see you are turning Japanese too! :-)
It's pretty cool to accomplish something in this scale, eh?
I'm hooked on my Ashigara now...
That sub looks so Kawaii!(Cute in Japanese... Picked it up from watching too much anime )
I will have to try out that kit sometime...
Rob
Edit: What company makes this model?

Robert, Tamiya makes the sub, it comes in a set called I-16 & I-58, the I-16, which is shown here, has the mini sub on the back, and the I-58 has a sea plane.
cheers

David
The first pic referencing the size of the sub to your hand really shows the difficulty, (at least in my eyes), of working with a model in this scale----and it is very very well done.
The many vents along the hull side--- how did you accomplish darkening each one versus the lighter colored hull sides? Did you hand paint every individual vent with a small brush or use some other technique?
This is pretty cool. Congrats.
Steve

David. Very impressive! I would go blind working in 1/700 th. My fingers could never deal with something that small. Your weathering is perfect for the scale. How many subs are you doing in the Diorama?

thanks guys.
Steve, as this was all painted in acrylics, i just gave them a wash of black mixed with windex ( window cleaning agent) and water, which allowed it to run into all the bumps, however its alot thicker than a turps wash, so i did end up having to dap it into each individual hole, and run it along the lines.
cheers, glad to hear you all like it.

Hi David!!
You have accomplished a very nice sub!
Very good weathering and nice details!
My only "complaint" is the colour of the Ko-Hyoteki Midget submarine (the one's used in the Pearl Harbour and in the Sidney Harbour attacks) painting scheme:
It should be all black, including the torpedo tubes caps.
Keep us posted,
Skipper
