I have a good air compressor in the garage but no way to use it in my hobby area. I am using a small no tank compressor made for AB use in the hobby room but I am not happy with it.

I saw some air tanks that I could fill up in the garage (135 psi) and carry to the hobby area and have silent air brushing. The tank is cheap. I would have to add a regulator and water trap but using 10 to 20 psi to spray, how long would this last?

Any one have any experience with this?

Thanks
John

The problem with using an air tank is the drop off in pressure. Even with a regulator, you can still experience some problems. I have used an air tank before though and it will get you by. Just keep an eye on your regulator and if you see the output start to drop, fill it back up. Heck, you can even use a tire as an air source!!! ( with less tthan desirable results I should add, but it works)

I would consider hooking up your small compressor to a five gal. tank. This way, the air you use is being replaced with air from the compressor and the tank will eliminate any pulsing you experienced using just the compressor. Also, make sure you use a regulator and moisture trap coming out of the tank.

Any chance of running a small Airline into the house? Maybe dig a tranch from the garage........hehehehe The advantage you have is that you have a compressor not too far away, As opposed to running to the gas station at midnight (when you run out in the middle of a deadline..........)

Thanks for the input.

To far away for an air line from the good compressor.

If I am going to get pressure drops, and have a real short (air) life on the tank then maybe I best just save my money and pick up a small compressor with a tank when I have the money.

Sounded to good
