Hey all,

I was wondering if any of you were into or had built the DML Armored train kits? Anyone looking for some of these kits??

I was curious.

Thanks
Deacon :-)

It's something that interests me, but the only kit I've seen is the flatcar, which I bought to put a Marder on. Have you any experiance with these kits?

Yes I am! The DML railroad kits are great! I have all of the releases and need more. It looks as if they didn't sell very well. I had hoped that they would do more but the line seems to be dead . They only did four or five flat cars and three of the armored "draisines". The last Rail kit I remember was the Panhard with railroad wheels. I wish that they would bring this line back. A injection molded locomotive would have been a dream!

I looked at 2 local hobby shops, one has the gondola car and the train track embankment, the other has the big pyramid shaped armored tank train thingie (technical term here). In case you are looking for either of these 3 things.

That's a Draisine the germans built three basic versions. The first was a command version It had an antenna similar to the 222 armored car. the second was similar with no antenna for infantry use it carried troops along the rails, and last a fire support version. This unit mounted an early panzer III or IV turret with the short barreled gun. Each of these units where self powered and could operate alone or together as a train. ( usually 8 cars joined together) They patrolled the rails in rear areas to prevent the supply lines from being disrupted by partisans.

By the way DML produced all three versions and Ironside produced the infantry version. They are a pleasure to build and are painted just like armor. Referance is hard to find, if anyone is interested I'll go thru my books.

Hi Tiger101,

Thanks for the link.

I have been trying to get some refs because I've the command car (DML) and the support one (GUNZE) and a flat car with MG crew (DML).
