I would suggest simply breaking it down to it's simplest shapes, and working from there, adding details as you go along.

What kind of car, modern or historical? What kind of camera? Dashboard or Vid cam?
Or does he want a film type of camera, the kind you take pictures with?

Hey Minky, like Grumpy said, you have to break it down..So here it is after measuring 3 camaras from around the house.
4 x 2 1/2 x 1 = 0.17 x 0.04 x 0.1
using a piece of plastic cut down to these measurments. Use a 1/32 round rod for the lens and .010 or .015 for the button. Using .010 plastic card to dress up the rest of the camara and lead foil or wire for the strap.
I have a drawing that i was going to post, but the gallery is down for maintainence. Later if your still intrested i'll down load to this thread, just let me know.

Minky I might have missed it but did you mention the scale? If its 1/35th, apart from scratchbuilding it as mentioned by Mother in excellent detail, a quick and dirty way is to use "camera looking shapes" from your Odd and End box provided you have one. Sometimes 1/72nd "spare parts" can be used for making 1/35th things.

Your vague initial request and flippant replies are not the way to get good information.
How about you post a picture of the camera you have in mind and you might even be directed to an aftermarket supplier.
