I just completed my first diorama. This is also my first finished model. I did this for the Move It campaign. It features an AMT Beverly Hillbillies Truck 1/25th scale. The groundwork is composed of celuclay, static grass, heki wildgrass, various dried flowers, bragdon eterprises miniature plants, rubberized horsehair, and homemade tree stump and log made out of Sculpey by my fiance' Kevin. I plan to add a figure to this diorama of a "uncle Jed"...but the figure i bought which was from Chimneyville Hobbies was a terrible casting and will need much work before it can be added. Here is a couple of pictures of the dio..others can be seen in my gallery.

It looks great Mary, like it is ready for Jethro to get in and drive it out to Beverly Hills! Congratulations on a job well done. Could you point out what parts of the vegetation are made from the rubberized horsehair as I have no clue what that looks like?

Absolutely Superb !!!!
Perhaps you can shoot some pics with a single color background (cardboard, towel or whatever) and send the pics (in ZIP format) to the support centre. This would make a loveloy On Display !!

YeeeHah! Excellent build on a well composed base. Looks good enough to drive down to the land of swimming pools. I can almost feel Granny cussing away at the back. Great job.

Hi Mary: You' ve done a great job on "Jethro's Chick Magnet". Your subtle whethering is very believable, the rug is a nice touch. Your vegetation is very nice setting, I can almost smell the flowers. I've been temped to try this "Granny Hauler", but I guess I have to many previous engagments., like the munsters mobiles. BTW where Granny's rocker?

Good job for your FIRST dio Mary. I like the little touches like the carpet and the red painted oil lamps for rear lights. Wonderful.

Very nice build, beautiful weathering job especially the log jump seat . The ground work, log and stump are also nicely done. Please, please put a couple of pool cues in the back for the "fancy pot passers".-Cheyenne

Mary,
An absolutely superb example of what many modelers attempt after years of creating dioramas, and your first to boot. Very well done.

...rubberized horsehair...
Mary,
First, great job on the dio! It looks great IMHO.
Second, where in the heck did you get rubberized horsehair? I've been looking all over the place for that stuff. A few others have also, if I'm not mistaken...

hi Sister,
Your first diorama finished in great success. Besides the excellent built and painting of hillybilly truck, the diorama is also awesome. Foliage is very good and tree stumps are nice additions.I have a buddy who makes similar stumps from celluclay. :-) The detailing of the truck is very very good. As I told you in chat, one of my favorites is the carpet and it would be great to share the technique with others. Maybe an article with photos about this would be great.

First of all...i would like to say thank you to everyone for the comments. I never expected to have such great feedback on this project. To answer a few questions..
Keith and Darryl..the rubberized horsehair...this was something i found in Jackhammer81's stash of goodies. I used it to make the bramble patch that is laying over the log and around the stump. He only had a limited amount of it and is always looking for more.
Bruce..Re the Rocking Chair...Unfortuneately the kit did not come with one. I was unable to find one anywhere to fit scale, and i didnt really have enough time to build one.
Alex...Re the tree stumps...these were made by Jackhammer81 from Sculpey clay.
Antonio....Re the Heki... Yes..that grass is the Heki..wonderful stuff...And it is from Jackhammer81's stash...lol.
Engin..Re the Rug.. The pattern for the rug was actually given to me by Faust..aka..Robert. The technique for doing it is this...the pattern is printed on iron on transfer paper. Iron the pattern onto an old white t-shirt or other cloth depending on the thickness you are looking for. Simply cut it out... And then glue it into place how you want it. It this case ..i weathered it with various pastels.
This is the Rubberized horsehair.

Very nice. Looks like old Jed, Elle-May, Jethro and Granny could climb up on her and mosey on to Beverly Hills, you know the place were those swimming pools and movie stars...
