Good review Scott! I agree the brick work looks nice and will be much nicer painted.
My point in writing is more of a question.How common in Europe is an open smoke stack like this?
Its not something that I ever took notice of before, but I imagine a chimney stack with the flu-liner (chimney pot) on top, or more pots, as chimneys often catered for more than one fireplace. A big open stack like this would only fill with rain or snow, or let a draft in. I havent a clue when they were introduced and am not nit-picking the item on review, ........ just wondering. Its possible the stack could be limited to a certain point in time, or older US log cabin type buildings.
