I've seen a T-74 for sale by AMT. What on earth is a T-74? Never heard of it before. Could it be a variant of T-72?

Esci/Ertl/AMT T-74 was exactly that, a different version of their T-72 (although I can't remember in what respect). These are scary kits, made when there was hardly any info out on the T-72. Stay away!

Cheers,
Jim

Looking at the box art, I can confirm this is the T-72/74 kit I gave up on. Making it the only model I ever have other than the Testors 1/24 scale Porsche 917K. So I can definitely confirm the need to stay away!

T-74 is what eventually turned out to be the T-72A (T-72M1). Again, intelligence was very spotty especially on the outside of military walls so this is what we got for models. However, it is a BAD kit.

Save your $$$ and buy a DML T-72M2 kit...

Yes, I'm saving my money up for Zvezda's T-72s which can be had cheaply at militaryhobbies.com.
