I recently gave a wash to my T-34 and it dried up all funny and white on me.
Rather than wash, perhaps I should call it a filter. I use Delta ceramcoat paints heavily diluted with water for this process and have never had a problem. This time when the black/burnt sienna mixture dried up, some of the crevices turned a pinkish, almost white color. As if a calcium deposit had built up in there
Is this possibly due to my tapwater? This is the first model I've built since moving into this house. But I dont know, I've always had Lake Michigan, with its hard water, as my aquifier before;so maybe thats not it.

Mte
I've never heard of this happening before and have no experience of it myself.
A couple of things to look at - the first you have suggested - the water, maybe distilled water may be better - at least it is consistent not like tap water.
The other possibility may be the paint itself - how old is it? and did you mix/stir/shake it like you usually do?

I've experience this before, a white residue left after the wash. I notice it happens when I add a lot of thinner to the wash. I think its the thinner thats causing this. However I too have no idea how to remove it. Anyone know?
