Looking good Keenan. I really like the showers. Brings back memories. One thing I would add to the bunker openings is a "L shape wall about four feet from the opening to be a barrier from incoming rounds. WE learned this the hard way in the beginning. I really like the layout though. Can't wait to see some more progress.

Thanks for the tip on the L shaped wall i really did not want to show detail inside the bunkers this solves that problem. I thought the showers would be a nice touch. This is rather large but i plan to take my time and add lots of detail.

Looks great! Tamiya has a table and folding chairs that would be correct for the period if you wanted to add them into one of the bunkers. It came with the M557 kit and was produced on its own for a while. Are you thinking of adding flooring to the bunkers?

My first question is - where are you going to display that huge diorama??

It looks nicely done, good layout, it flows well and has detail (already) to look at and keep you eye busy.
A couple of things I noticed - some of the sand bags have an 'extra pinch' - 2nd picture top row 2nd to right from the door is one I'm seeing. The pinch looks a bit to 'tight' compared to the rest. Just a touch of sandpaper or sculpting blade will take care of those. When you're building so may it gets hard to see those after a while. The doorway of the 1st smaller bunker needs a support or a tarp like the second one. I know its very early so this is a reminder to watch your barrel seam lines.

I just had a thought - if your mortar isn't glued together yet you could swap the flat base for the one with teeth (leaning the bags), drill out the base a little (or build it up with celluclay) and push the new base 3/4 or 7/8 of the way into the ground. This will give you a bit of detail under the mortar. Or you could work 90% of the ground work up to the edge and leave a bit where it erroded away - just a thought....

I love the shower that really adds a bit of 'soldier life' to the scene - nicely done.

very nice project.the combination of DML and Verlinden figures looks very good. DML Mech.Mule is also a very good choice for a Nam dio. I liked the bunker and showers so much. This dio seems to be a very good one even in the first building steps.Believing we have so many Vietnam dio builders in Armorama (including me)it would be great to see this as a feature or On display..if you have extra time and effort to make this a Feature,i will be pleased to help in anyway.if related please PM me.
Best regards

You have started a huge project....good luck. My question is about the figures' headgear. There seems to be a big variation in what the guys are wearing. I am no Viet Nam expert, so please excuse my ignorance. Was is it common to have such a mixture? Looking forward to seeing this diorama finished.

Thanx greywolf Im not real pleased with Tamiya mortor team but will make them do.
Here is the size of the project if youre curious 28" x 13 1/2". I would really appreciate if you can to take a look at other progress as i post it and point out anything you can find that I missed like we said this is rather big and I might just miss somthing here and there.
