Hi, its me again
i'm using tamiya's clear and flat base to try to dullcoat my models... what is the exact ratio? i always end up getting the finish having some white and/or too glossy... (lucky i experimented on a piece of scrap!)
or should i just get some other brands' dullcoat?

I have always used Testors Dullcote or Flat laquer in the rattle cans with good results. The only time I have ever had a problem was if it was to cold or I didn't shake the can enough. I have used the Dullcote in the jar. I shoot it straight thru my Aztek with no thinner. It works well and will not change the look of pastels I have used on the model. Well ok it darkens them a little LOL but they don't wash away at all.

Throw away the Tamiya flat, worst product in the hobby. If you can't get Dullcoat, find some other flat finish. Polly S (predecessor to Polly Scale had a great clear flat acrylic, but I don't know if it is still available.

Why not make the whole plane out of the same material the blackbox is made from?

Polly S dull coat is still available at Squadron. Its the best dull coat, out -performs the testors rattle can. Its the flatest flat you can get.
