Here is my Tamiya KT under way. Still alot to do yet. Frui tracks, and JR aluminum barrel. Just thought I would share with you all thus far. The small rod like things on the turret top are shell casings that haven't been painted as yet. The suspension is set up to conform to the forth coming terrain base, (Small dio planned). Comments welcome. Thanks "Q"

Matt,
Looking good so far...I have the same kit but have not started it yet...are there any problem/trouble areas to look out for?
Also, how did you simulate the wear and tear (dark grey area) around the hatches? Looks very realistic.

Outstanding job!!

Are that emty bullets on the turret, near the cupola??
If so, where is the gun??
Or are you still working with that?
I like also the little dots as camo.
Maby you can dirty up the tracks a bit.
Give it a wash or something. It give a more used look.
Are you going to make a dio for it?
Can you make more pics of it??

Still, well done mate

Thanks for the kind words.
Yes those are empty chell casings.
I haven't gotten that far as yet (Installing the MG)
Yes I am still working on it
Tracks will get dirtied up once finished and mounted to the diorama base.
Yes I can take a few more pics of it and post them here.
I have yet to do anything with the exhausts. I am using a new product that I will share with you soon, once I figure out all if it's little oddities, but thus far I think it is going to produce some great results. Stay tuned! "Q"

The wear marks/ chipping around the hatches was done with a fine tipped brush and some dark gray oil paint. I just put a little on the tip and dabbed here and there. End result is what you see here. Very easy technique to do. A good place to practice is on the bottom of your tank as it is not visable once complete. (Unless you pick it up and turn it over that is!! Give it a shot, you'll like it. Thanks again. "Q"
ps. No major problems that I can recall. One thing I forgot to mention is that I used the Cavalier zimmeritt on this kit. I used plain ole' Elmer White glue for it, and it is holdng fast.

Great work on your Henschel Tiger II ! Overall finish and the "Ambush" camo scheme looks awesome ! I really like the spent MG rounds on the turret roof, too.

Looks like you have some Zimmerit on it. What kind did you use ?

Can't wait to see your Diorama

Cheers !!

I used the Cavalier set. Great stuff to work with. I used Elmers white glue and its still holding even after having been started over 2 years ago!. Should be starting the dio for it soon. Thanks. "Q"

Matt, another keeper, very very nice build. Also the photo quality is nice and sharp allowing the viewer to pick out details. The unit markings really snuggle into the Zim, and the small paint/weathering details really make the vehicle stand out.

Do you happen to have a nice side shot showing off the suspension and tracks? Would love to see it.

Keep us posted.

Steve

I will take some other pics of it today. When I assembled my Frui tracks I mistakenly added two too many shoes per side. The result was, well, less than appealing. I have the suspension tweaked to conform to the terrain, so a couple of the roadwheels are up in the air (ie sitting on rocks, logs etc) I seem to have lost/misplaced one outer road wheel as well, but I can probably track down another if I have to. I'll get soe pics on here soon. I am at the point where I am starting to add all the small fiddly bits to it. To me this is the most time consuming part of a build. Arrrgh. Pics to follow soon. Thanks for the kind words. "Q"

As promised, some new pics of the further work I've gotten done thus far. As I stated earlier, I added two too many links to my track. Ihave since fixed that problem. I've painted the brass shells on the turret, weathered the track some more, weathered the exhaust and added a few more chips here and there. (Still more to come for the road wheels. The figures may or may not get used for this. I was just seeing how they would work when I took these pics. I have picked up my materials for the diorama and should be starting that soon. Here are the pics. As always, comments welcome. "Q"
