Hi Friends

Finally the build is done

I made some in progress pics because I thought it could be helpful to show my steps to paint a model.

Done!

This is the base coat, I used XF-13 J.A Green

Then I sprayed the whole model with XF-59 Desert Yellow. Then I applied some post shading, I mixed Desert Yellow with Red Brown (75% x 25%)

On this photo I sprayed XF-59 over the model to blend to post-shading into the surfaces.

The last step was to add camouflage. I had no photos or reference for this scheme so I used my own imagination

Thanks for viewing Feedback is highly appreciated

Looks really good. I would take it one more step. Add some buff to your green, and lightly fill in the center of the green camo areas. this will give it more depth, and paint fade. You can do this also to the yellow as well, but be careful you dont make it too light!

Just my 2 cents. Looks great!

Ola Jurjen

I second what the two above me already said (Actually I Forth it :-) :-) ) It`s a very nice looking tank. Well painted too. Some Extensive weathering, Couple of figures and knowing you there will also be some goodlooking groundworks to accompany the tank.
I also second the opinion of John Steinman that you should give some more depth to the green... Fading happens fast to camo

Cool model, the camo looks great, Jurjen

The only think I would add is a wash to the drums on the back of the tank and maybe a few streaks and stains

I used the Tamiya kit with the Verlinden T-72 update set. I also used Aber's Alu barrel and a PE set and Fruils.. (it was very expensive but a joy to build).

Lol, nice understatement

Small update: I painted the gun mantlet Russian Green and I painted the rubber fenders black and the rubber on the wheels too. When I have time I shall make some new and better photos.

Thanks for the replies!

well, I have a few suggestions too:

first of all, I think your model could benefit greatly from chipping effects.

for an Iraqi vehicle I'm quite sure that you will need to add sheet metal guards to all the IR gear on the turret.

as for a nationality suggestion, I am mostly intrested in Syrian AFVs, I'd love to see a T-72 finished as such. that is of course if you can find enough reference which is very hard to come by, I guess because of military censorship.

Hi Elad,

I search on google for sheet metal guards because I don't know what that is Have you an exemple or something familiar?

A Syrian T-72 would also be nice, now I have to toss... Lol.

thanks,

Jurjen

Jurjen-Looking great! As to it being Iraqi, not too sure. Haven't seen many from the current conflict that didn't brew up completely, but the T-72's our tankers & TOW teams knocked out in ODS were all single color sand Camo.(Some of which was actually house paint looted from a Kuwaiti Sherwin-Williams!)
I think Elad's idea of a Syrian vehicle would be best, especially when compared with the camo on these AFV's:

yep Jurjen, couldn't find pics showing the IR projectors with shields either but I'm sure I seen a pic of it somewhere on a T-72, maybe it was that Lion of Babylon mod the Republican Guard used.

anyway, heres a photo of the subject in case installed on a T-62 (type 69?):

Isn't any relief on the inside of the engine hatch (or what its called?)

Further I've nothing to say about it.
