I just picked up an Italeri M998 HMMWV Desert Patrol kit, Italeri number 249. I've never seen a Humvee in this configuration before. Is this possibly a Marine configuration? Has anyone built this kit and does anyone know where I might find some information on this type? Thanks in advance.

I am not sure but I remember hearing somewhere that the DP Humvee is based on a prototype that never went into production, so finding resources may be hard. I believe that the kit as is would represent an Army version as it doesn't have the extended exaust or the raised air intake on the hood. I am sure other members can give you better specifics than I can. Vodnik in particular would be the one to ask.

Thanks. Yeah, I thought about the intake, etc. as being Marine, but I still wasn't sure. Maybe that's why I've never seen anything on this one. Maybe it was a prototype. I appreciate it.
