Hi Everyone,
Here's an oldy from a couple years ago I found in my pic folder at home, it's Academy's Early Tiger I (non interior) and Tamiya's 250 (the Grief kit) I'm sure I've had it up before, but if so, here it is again..LOL

Hand made sandbags out of clay, Dragon, Academy and Tamiya figures, base is made out of plaster covered in soil and static grass. Some hand made ammo boxes made from pieces of cut hardwood flooring and plastic strip, the tree is a root from the back yard, branches are dried flowers. The trailer was converted by adding coffee stir sticks to the bottom to create a bed to hold stowage. The tarp was made from kleenex. I believe someone told me the markings on the tiger were actually for the desert....oops! Chalk it up to inexperience....LOL
Enjoy!

Kelly,
Really nice work !
I love "off the line" dioramas. In fact, if I ever do a diorama, that's what it will be. I've had one planned for a long time. A workshop kubelwagen with the crew digging into a panzer engine. I've got all the kits and accessories, all I have to do is finish the 6 or 8 projects I'm working on.
Thanks for posting the pics. It's a very nice piece.

It is a very good dio!

But I think the grass is too light.
Spray it more darker so it will be more realistic

Nice dirty Tiger also

Thanks guys, I actually had a blast building this one, although making the boxes was a little frustrating, I had to scribe the lines in the wood, and that hardwood is not easy to cut into! :-)
Hilbert, the grass is pretty dark, I ran the pics through Photoshop, and I really lightened them, so everything is really bright looking, but I know what you mean about darkening the grass...I now mix a couple different grasses together, and it comes out much better!

That's an awesome dio, those sandbags and the tarp over the trailer are also very nicely made.

That is a beautiful dio! How did you make those jagged fenders of the Tiger?

Absolutely amazing. I love the simplicity.

By the way, what is an "off line dio"?

All I see are red "X". When I paste url for these pictures into my browser I get a "page cannot be displayed" message. Where exactly are these pictures hosted?

Thanks everyone for the kind comments!
Angela, the damaged fenders were real easy to do, I glued on the fenders as per the instructions, and as these were one solid piece, I cut them into sections, and took a lighter and heated up the plastic, and bent them up with tweezers.
An "off the line" dio is just simply a scene one depicts where the goings on in the scene is away from the battle or the front lines. In my Off The Line, it's just the Tiger coming in for quicky service, refueling, rearming and getting back out to the action

Marty, glad you can see the pics, I use Photobucket.com as my hosting space.

Graywolf, thanks, I'll remember that for future dios to submit!

Now that was the only part that bugs me in the whole of your excellent diorama. The fenders look really 'melted', and this can be easily fixed by either sanding or scraping the edges of the fenders untill they are thin and no longer 'rounded'. Other than that, the composition is really good, and you have conveyed the 'relaxed' behind the lines moment very well.

Cheers
Henk

I think the weathering and the composition are excellent... plenty of story-lines to follow. The grime on the tiger, and the wear-damage is also top notch.

The only area of improvement, to my eye, is the sandbags... they sholdn't have "space" between them. Perhaps in the future you could lay them in place as you make them one-by-one, and press them into position so they sag against each other...

i like this dio , cause the scene is tight , has many details and all is fair build . I agree with Keith on the sandbag look , and thats all i see it could be different , and maybe somemore contrasted painting on the figures .

Well done
Bravo
