Hi everybody.
As a finishing off for my winter sherman I'm looking to place stowed gear here and there. My question is this:
In rack on the rear plate I wanted to place a bunch of ammo boxes. Does anybody know how these would have been secured in place? Tied down with rope or what?
Thank you

The bedroll rack had four "footman loops" (like those the tool straps went through) just below the top edge of the vertical plate and four more on the small turned up lip of the horizontal plate. Additionally, the rack was on hinges that set it off about an inch from the hull, so there was plenty of space to wrap straps or rope around the rack and any cargo.

Guys,
Here's a field expedient rack welded onto the back of a 752nd Tank Battalion M4 in the MTO. Not standard, but it sure looks functional!
