Angela,
If the plaster mix-or joint compound-is cracking, you are probably laying it on too thick. Try using a couple of thin coats rather than one thick coat. This should also prevent it from shrinking.

Angela, Small trick you can try with the Plaster is add dish soap..It works with spackle. What it does is slow down the dry time. I have never tried it with plaster but see no reason it wont work..Experiment with small batches.

Angela: I have not experienced the cracking of wall putty or spackle. I usally apply wall putty with several thin layers. I allow the first layer to dry first before applying the second layer. After applying putty, I normally brush it using an old brush with some water.....What brand do you use?

Angela: Oh, I use Bostik not Bosny. Although I've seen that brand, I have never exprienced using it. The other brand I used was RJ -- it has a rubbery finish that's why I don't use it anymore.
I'm sorry if ever I gave you the wrong suggestion, they do sound the same...
Cheers

Hi guys,
Thank you so much for the inputs and suggestions. I've made my cobblestone street. I used wall putty (spackle) to cover my foamboard street. When it was dry, I scribed a pattern. I had some minute errors on the length and width of the bricks but they look okay. Besides, I think that due to repairs, destruction and wear and tear, the cobblestones have different sizes.
One more translation needed.
My scene of my diorama is Bastogne. How do you say "Library" there?
Thank you.
