The attached pics show a partially completed dio using Tamiya's KV-2 as the central feature.
The scene, once completed, will show two German figures looking over a KV-2 that has been knocked out and abandoned due to shell fire. The figs will be located neart the front of the KV.
The basic KV is built pretty much out of the box. The tracks are from Model Kasten, and the open side storage box is scratched from Evergreen plastic card. The tarp hanging out of the box is Kleenex dipped in glue and painted.
The model is based, in part, on an actual pic of an abandoned/damaged KV, especially the look of the rolled out/ruined track. Snipping and heat replicated the damage in the side hull/fender area.
The dio base is layered one inch pink construction styro foam. The road is sheet rock mud imbedded with fine dirt, that is painted/highlighted with several shades of brown. The KV treads were pushed into the still wet sheet rock mud to simulate some weight.
Still to do, improve the look of "blast" area of the road by including a partially blown over telephone pole, and destroyed foliage, and the figures.
Any helpful comments on this one are sincerely appreciated.
Please note the pics are off a bit as I am using a new digital camera, and the depth of field and clarity are not quite right.
An indoor flash pic, showing the KV right after being pushed into the soft dry wall mud road. The washed out color in front is the unfinished pink styro foam base.

Steve, WOW this is an exceptional KV-2 you have here. I really like the painting and weathering. Are you planning on any figures? Looking forward to see this progress. Cheers Kevin

Breathtaking paintjob. Superb battle damage. How do you bend and shape the plastic?

Very impressive work. I second the call for a SBS on your painting of the KV2!
