Does anyone know what the proper link count for left and right side for the AFV Club Diehl workable link set is? It's for a Tamiya hull if that makes a difference.

I suppose I could test fit several times but I'm lazy and with my luck of late, I would probably do something clumsy and snap some of the pins off.

Thanks,
Paul

Paul,

I'm not sure how correct this is, but AFV Club's vinyl one piece Diehls have 63 links for the left and 64 links for the right side - and this means the same number as for regular T130 tracks.

Thanks for the answer. I'll give it a shot.

How are those vinyl tracks from AFV Club?

Thanks,
Paul

Very nice - crisp details and easy to use. T130s which I used on my M113A3 are too thick on link edges, but Diehls look much better.

113 track shoes,
on a real 113 you would find that one side has one more track shoe than the other and the reason for that-the torsion bars are staggered-to my knowledge none of the m113 kits reflect this.
hope this helps...

ps-if you have the opportunity-and if there's a m113 in your hood, take a look on how the left side idler wheel is mounted vs. the right side.this info. is not found in the manual-this is a eyes on.
i'm in the process of doing a nam acav-the only solution and that is too much work at least for me,is to remove all road wheel arms and shock assy from one side and to move them back-maybe one day somebody will come out with a kit that reflects this-big maybe.

The "real" reason there were more "shoes" on one side (the left) than the other is: assume the driver were to fall asleep; more on the left to keep the tracked vehicle "pulling" to the right ("curb" side). Least that's what I "grew up" learning in my 20 years in the Army (driving and TC'ing 113's and 577's).

HA! I heard that one went I did my track course. I also heard the one that it's one off because the roads are angled so this helps the track stay straight on the road. c6o is right though, its staggered because of the torsion bars.
