I am not familiar with that tank. What's it's history/background?

Looked very good Steve, is this the cloud pattern you have been talking about? Very interesting!

Jim, this is a Pz II which was in the middle to later war years refitted for arm-recon purpose, one hell of a small AFV, fast and pack some punches. Kinda like a WW II German version of Bradley... #:-)

Hi guys,

Thanks all your comments.
Dave, that's what I was talking about the cloud pattern.
Herberta and Pieter, it is an ICM kit with Eduard PE parts added on.
Staff_Jim, Dave knows all the history about German Tanks and AFVs, I think he has answered your question.
Will keep all of you guys and gals updated news asap.

What's this cloud pattern thing? Was that actually a German camo scheme or is it a method for fading?

Hi there.

I enjoyed building that kit too!

It's quite nice. All I did was add some mesh for the engine screens. The indy links go together very well, and the only fit problem I encountered was to get the hull and the hull top to match up. there was a gap at the back, and a lot of glue and some serious work with clothes pegs and elastics got it all together!

Real nice model,
Are you planning to weather it? If so, how you gonna make it?
Cheers

Hi All,

Actually, the cloud pattern, I think, is to use the darker color for the base and spray a lighter color in the middle of each panel to make the AFV look more outstanding. It's a kind of weathering method. If you can control it better, you can forget about wash it. I am still trying this method but I will wash it to tone down a little bit. And I will cammo it too.

Okay, that's kinda what I was thinking, but I wasn't sure. I did the same thing with a Cromwell I'm working on and was really pleased. I think that the differences between the colours on the Luchs might be just a little too great, though. You might want to overspray the whole thing with a thinned coat of dark brown paint just to lessen the contrast, but that's just my opinion. I like the model, ICM makes good stuff.

Looks very good! Nice job with the weathering.

Jim, According to "Encyclopidia of German Tanks of World War II" revised edition
By Chamberlain And Doyle (one of the best base references on German armor)
The Luchs or PZKW II ausf L

Production began September 1942
Total Produced: 100
Crew: 4
Armarment: One 2cm KwK38 L55 and one 7.92mm MG34
Use: Armored Reconnaissance for panzer divisions
Area of operation: both eastern and western fronts

ICM and another company produced injection molded versions with slight differences. Each company used a different museum for reference.

I hope that this answers your question.
